Hello, new to the forum.
I have a S-Type 2.7D V6 with a bizarre issue.

The Central Locking has a issue that I'm hoping to resolve because it is driving me mad.

If I leave the car for more than 20-30 minutes it no longer recognises the fob. The buttons on the fob do not work at all. But if I unlock using the key in the door it will unlock the car.
I then have open the door and immediately put the key in the ignition as the horn alarm sounds. Once turned in the ignition it sounds waking up the whole street.

Now for the wierd bit. If I then lock the car using the fob. I can then also unlock it with the fob as if it's fine. 30 mins later it's the same old story.

The other issue which may be contributing is that the fob needs to be double tapped. I have seen on the forum someone with an similar issue but no resolution was achieved.

On a single lock press all doors expect the one before the driver's door lock. This door remains unlocked
on double press all the doors lock.

 

I have read enough from this forum that I can tell you what the experts will tell you to do first: check the battery, the connections, the charge when the car is off and when the car is on. Get a new battery, get a battery charger but not the tricker kind. Do those first and come back if there is still an issue. Also, the year of the car would be useful to know.
