Exclamation shifting issue

I have a 2003 Jaguar S-type R. The last couple of days it has been having a transmission shifting problem. When I pull it back into Drive, it registers, and stays in, Neutral or it doesn't light up any gear but still acts as if it's in Neutral. So far I have been able to get it to work again by throwing the shifter back up to the Neutral position and back into gear again.

Any clues as to what this might be?

i had the same thing with my 03 s-type. some time ago with my car would not start at frist but i got it going. then it would not go in the right gears or in park. i got it towed to the dealer and they said it was a bolt missing. they said that they have never seen that befor. its working now. I think their is a TBS for that. the bolts were not tightened to spec from the factory. just need to tighten the bolts and make sure the cable is adjusted properly for the trans/shifter. If that is the same problem ur having.
