i agree. But i changed all coolant hoses within the last 4 years so no reason to adapt. That hose going to radiator tank might fit by cutting off palstic connector and shoving clean end on the hose connector. Maybe have to extend it a bit with a hose barb and more hose but that would make it way easier to connect the hose before putting the tank in place. With the plastic connector you are forced to put hose on after tank is in place and hope the little clip stays in place

The cost is low and the replacement is easy. Probably not worth the effort of finding or fabricating a longer lasting replacement.

From all that's been said I'll consider the coolant tank to be a consumable going forward. Assuming that the new part is lower quality than the original I'll plan on replacing it again in 5 years or so. I'll order a spare.

Cheers

FWIW I replaced the tank a couple days ago. The Rock Auto replacement fit fine. We'll see how long it lasts.

Somewhat against my better judgement I also replaced the heater valve. I used the Motorcraft YG378.....hoping that the higher price might mean higher quality. We know it doesn't always work that way. I was hoping replacing the valve would cure the small issue of a slight left side-versus-right side disparity in output temps from the vents when the system was in cooling mode. It didn't. I'll do some reading-up on this issue if I decide to go further.

Anyhow, the task was uneventful and unremarkable. Took about an hour.

I drove my TR6 for a few days while waiting for parts. It was a pleasure getting back into the Jag

Cheers and thanks

DD
