Stainless Steel Header for the S Type V-8?
I found some really nicely built stainless steel headers that fit the 2003-2006 Lincoln LS and Ford Thunderbird with the smaller 3.9L V-8. These should fit the S Type V-8. Regular and supercharged. I e-mailed the vendor and they would like to try it out. They are located near Cleveland, OH. Just too far away for me to try it out.
Here is their web site: http://www.stainlessworks.net/cart/p...oducts_id=1723 . . . |
any updates?

I doubt they would fit as the engine bay would be different, so clearance would be an issue I would think as getting to anything now is almost impossiable....

That's what's so interesting. The engine compartments and mounting points were identical when the Lincoln LS and the S Type came out. Look at this diagram showing what the cars shared. Everything is there but it would just take something small to make them not fit.
I want to get a set and then if they don't fit the STR I could put them on the wife's LS!!! . . . |
The engine bays are the same for ls and stype, dimensions of engine are the same, suspensions are for most part the same with some changes to sway bar diam and bushings. I dont see any reason you couldnt put a set of ls designed headers with cats into an stype. I would talk to them and ask if they would be willing to work a deal on a set to check fitment and take pics and notes. Hell the cost is only slightly higher than 1 factory jag u wire:) cat

The only thing we have to see is if the V8 ( Na ) Lincoln or Jaguar has the same exhaust ports as the V8 Supercharged. |
Well hmmmm......I am very interested then....Didnt know they where all the same....
|
Na and sc are the same heads, cams different, jag u wire (ford) didnt spend money to cast/tool different heads.

I still wonder about these things, since no one I can find has even got a pic of these things. The best I got was an underside pic that was supposedly a Thunderbird. Can't really tell though. I'll see if I can find it & post it up.

Found it. Also supposedly a pic of the headers themselves.:icon_shrug:

Great find on the header pictures!! I have been looking but must have missed them. Too bad the picture of the headers themselves is not bigger.

that's going to be one loud as hell STR. I love it! Everyone thinks jag are sooo composed, and mellow. That jag with headers will sound like 1 mean mofo... If you can stand the resonance from the interior along with the headache inducing drone, which you will get. choices, choices... :)

they are sexy :D
|
Well then I guess I'm going to buy them next month
|
those pics look like the bottom of an Stype if I didnt know better. And long tube would definitly be a performance increase. You can always tie into the stock system and go from there on sound. deleting or changing resonators as wanted to build the sound/system you want
|
My STR dont have a X brace or look anything like that in the picture....
They should be a nice gain of some torque.... Would love to see someone throm them on, instead of being the trail guy on this one....I dont see the cats either.....throw codes w/o them? |
the cats are the small metal cans just down stream(it appears to me) they look identical to the metal matrix hiflo cats I used on my Nissan exhaust build. You can run catless without codes usally with downstream 02 simulators, or by spacing the downstream 02's out of the direct flow of exhaust. there for it would read cleaner than actuall and believe cats are still there cleaning. most commonly used a oil foulers for plug from JC Whitney. you screw them into the 02 port and then the 02 in the back. You have to have room to space them out, but if youre build an exhaust you can change their position to provide room for the sensor. And no i dont meen the Xbrace, and the tranny and wiring looks more like 00-02 Ptec Stype with Ford trans instead of the ZF
|
Good to know.....but doing long tubes would make the car really loud and not sure if that is what I want when it is already "loud enough"...

Translation: Ptec is the PCM (powertrain control module, the computer running the engine) - on the 99-02 it runs both engine and tranny. Later cars got a module for each.

This is awesome. Someone do it and I'll contribute. I want to do this bad. Get the Jet Hot or HPC coating to reduce underhood temps and increase scavenging....yeah.
