I have a 00 S Type - open the sunroof cover, grab a pair of pliers and there are 2 plastic covers running along each side of the sunroof panel. Grab the front of the plastic cover (at front of sunroof) and pull straight out and swing the guide over.

This will expose 4 bolts (2 on each side) remove the bolts and carefully lift the sunroof glass out from the top of the vehicle.

Best have someone assist with getting the sunroof glass out of the car.

thanks! looking at the gasket / seal there is one side that has a smooth edge and the other side has a tiny lip to it, of course i forgot to pay attention to this, does the side with the small lip go to the interior.....I hope so as this thing is a royal pain to change

To add, when placing the sunroof glass panel back in ensure the glass is flush with the top of the car or even very slightly below the roof panel as you tighten the bolts.

Having someone to help hold the glass panel in place while tightening the bolts will be best... what I did was matched the outline of the bolt mark left on the metal frame piece when tightening - that helped me get damn close to flush...

And... don't overtighten the bolts...

Correct, tiny lip side towards the interior.

The seal seam is located in the middle of the rear glass (make sense?).

The exterior of our car's moonroof rubber gasket/seal has long had visible surface cracks, very small but still noticeable. I've always attributed these surface cracks to sun exposure and deemed them to be normal wear-and-tear. I assume that at some point they may worsen and cause water leakage although there is no evidence of that yet. For those of you who have had to replace your seal, at what point did the surface cracks worsen and were they indeed the primary cause of your eventual leak(s)?
