Drjs, Pick up an STR now and join us. When properly modified these things wig out both import and domestic muscle...they don't know what to make of an STR...until it's too late.
Are they the spun kind Riski or do that have the metal rattle surrounds as I like to call them? Also if the deal with 08Z06 falls through and they are the spun kinda like the magnaflows I'll take them off your hands. Got pics??

I'am soo eager to do this, its just that I'm confused where to get them for the lowest price on my 03' STR. My passenger side cat is starting to make a lot of clicking sounds, so I'm going to have to change out both side cats. I know I should get the Spun type, but whats the difference, Spun or No Spun??Originally Posted by bfsgross
Jag79, there isn't an aftermarket direct fit cat for the STR. I used the Magnaflow "Spun" hi-flow cat. It's easily found on Summitt Racing under Magnaflow catalytic converters. I don't have the part # because I had Summitt Racing direct ship to exhaust shop, so they tossed the reciept. I do however clearly remember they were the "Spun" (no seams) design with 2 1/2" inlet-outlet, 11" long, with a 4" diameter.
Thanks.

My knowledge of cats is relatively limited...but from what I could gather, the metallic substrate is preferable for modified engines, as they (metallic substrates) withstand much higher temps. Might be worth the extra $20 each if you plan to do more work...
Do you have a link to the $96.29 wholesale price w/free shipping?? CAn;t find it, and also is it the "Spun" type hi flow cats by Magnaflow?Originally Posted by Phil_Deeznuutz
Part #59926 fits bfsgross's description perfectly...however, it is slightly more expensive than his $75 price--I am guessing this is because the substrate is metallic instead of ceramic. Summit offers these at $104.66 each, but they are available at Wholesale Magnaflow for $96.29 each (free shipping!).My knowledge of cats is relatively limited...but from what I could gather, the metallic substrate is preferable for modified engines, as they (metallic substrates) withstand much higher temps. Did alittle bit of searching found this site that sells Mangnaflow cats but unsure which one of them I need, I see the Metallic substrate Spun types, but I need a CAt converter since mine is about to break apart, the link is below this link.

Anyone can point out which of the Magnaflow cats is best suited for my 03' STR?

Thanks.

I don't have a link handy, but the way I found it was to first find the correct cats on the Summit website...then, I Googled the part number (it is a Magnaflow-issued part number, so it is the same for every vendor that carries the part) and clicked on the "shopping" tab. From there, arrange results by lowest to highest price and you will find cats being sold by "Wholesale Magnaflow". Their site is where I purchased from.
Let me know if you still have trouble finding them, and later tonight I will provide a direct link to the page...

never mind, this Tecate I am drinking must have suddenly motivated me. Here is the link http://www.wholesalemagnaflow.com/in...ducts_id=20741
You have to actually add the items to your 'shopping cart' in order to see the correct price. Their site notes that Magnaflow issues very firm minimum advertised prices to all of their vendors--as a result, the prices (if under this minimum) cannot be readily shown...

Phil, go for the Magnaflow "spun" cats found on Summitt Racing, prob the best price. I'll call Summitt tomorrow to ask them to draw up my order then forward to you. The freekin cats are absolutely the most clogged item on an STR's exahaust chain. Hi-flow cats will let her breath like there's no tomorrow.
