tight coils

I bought ignition coils off of ebay. The problem is, they only go in so far, leaving about a half inch to go before seated. Can I grease these things up or did I get screwed by buying after market coils?

Compare the shape and depth of the new coils to your existing coils. If there is any difference at all, send them back for a refund. Coil performance is crucial so you must make certain that you're getting an exact fit. The Jaguar forums are full of threads pertaining to improper or inferior coils....

You want identical to OE, not similar or vaguely similar. You're buying trouble otherwise.

I have used coils off ebay with no issues- but they were very close or identical to the form factor of what I took out. I do use a touch of dielectric grease on the coils on the outside not the contacts.

Upon further review, the coils I got are not the ones for a jag, they are for a f-150. the company is rectifying this.

Why are you replacing them?
Do you have a problem?

My 2005 STR at 125K miles has all the original coils and no problems so far.

They do get baked so I treat them as a wear item....... though, ahem, at 121K miles I'm still on my orig ones as well.
