2003 s type v6, would hardly turnover, jumped to start, alternator bad, replaced alternator, was ok for a few days then would not turn over, jumped again, battery is good, alternator charging, garage mechanic started car to move but would not start later, he then jumped car to starter and it would not start but it started later with key. what in the world could be wrong? what brand of obd will work with this car? i bought an obd ii mate which is ok for my wifes ford but not for the jag. still can't get into the console, won't unlatch to lift up lid. thanks ken

 

If by console you mean centre arm rest, you're not applying enough force. I just replaced mine & to get it open you have to be determined.

You can also use a smart phone with the Torque app to communicate with the vehicle's PCM through the OBD port via a Bluetooth interface to read many functions whilst driving.

 

Scanner. I have an ICadrsoft multi system scanner i930. I got from a dealer on ebay some time back. He programs it when you buy it. Mine is programmed for Jag/Land Rover ONLY. Best tool I ever bought.
