I think we've discussed this all before?

IMHO it would be torn off in the first day. That's why I have scrapes and one crack. It's a rough set of roads here.

It's cool idea though.

Do they make a front plate bracket that doesn't require you to drill into the front bumper in the event it's in your best interest career wise to move to a different state?

I did one of my cars in a very similar application by fabricating a pair of brackets that were "L" shaped and screwed to the underside of the bumper. They had no low clearance issues and then the OEM front plate mount screwed to the two brackets which were held proud from the bumper facia and had rubber cushioning on the back side just in case.

Not terribly expensive to do either.

I don't know if you can effectively mount on the underside of this bumper though.

It's quite possible I missed that discussion. Not all areas throughout the country have bad roads. Most of ours around here are well maintained and this type of bracket would have no problems in that regard. Just the cops might look at them differently though.

That's an excellent Job Chris. I'm going to get my whole car touched up this coming late spring (If the Inca's weren't right about the end of the world).... Laughing hysterically on that one. Here's a little song to illustrate how you must have been feeling when your beautiful Quartz baby was out of commission getting a facelift.

Glad she's back on the road, sexier than ever....

We already survived two raptures already, one on 5/21 and one 10/21!

Good to see it's all fixed and better than before the incident.

Nothing worse than a pissed off female. My ex never did anything to my cars (fearful of her life I expect) but there was the shovel through the dining room window once and some rather explicit language on my back door with a magic market. Good thing I had some solvent in the garage that took it off before anyone read it.

Just a note on the Mina grills mentioned. I recently installed them on my 2005 STR. $175 is WAY over priced but not any choice on where to get them. Very nice SS quality mesh but it's a bit cheesy how they mount. Not really up to the quality level of the STR.

kemp neal,

We're thinking about doing the Thanksgiving Day buffet thing at Pine Needles Lodge in Southern Pines. Been there? How is it?

Great I just ordered it 2 days ago. LOL. Oh well I just want them to look close to what the catchers mitt grill looks like. I had a similar situation when I had a Miata. Got a grill for the mouth that was pretty pricey and didnt mount so good but it was stainless and even after 3 years of all year driving in Michigan getting rain snow salt hitting it. It still looked new when I got rid of it. I'm dont with buying stuff till next year hopefully. Already got myself my Christmas present so I'm done.

The two outer grills mount pretty good. The center one is tough because it's larger and needs to wrap slightly to match the front bumper curve. The two small side ones are just about flat.

I had a chunk broken out of the center plastic factory grill. I did not like the alignment of the Mina center grill with the hardware installed. So I cut several of the plastic grill bars away so I could shift the stainless center grill to match the bumper opening better. Still off a bit because I think the center grill needs two additional attaching points, one at each end to hold it in a curved position like I mentioned above. Considering adding these when I figure out how I want to do it.

When you mount yours see if you are happy with the fit. Maybe have an idea on how to hold it better?

This past spring my 03 STR's front bumper cover was repainted and Mina lower grill insert installed. Can everyone else see what I see...Old (er) men showing up to meet each other with their "S"'s, talking about the past and present forum discussions, admiring eachothers cats... the comradare. Though we never met, we'd help each other. I love this place.

Dang, the car looks great! I had a TT Coupe that got keyed, too. It's a heartbreaker, for sure. I'm in the Nashville area, but used to live not too far from Apex...went to school in NC.

Wow, it looks superb.

OK, so what is the light blue car in the far background? Gotta ask.
