Question Where is the Climate Control unit in cars with Navi??

Can someone please tell me, where I cant find this?

I need to have it replaced or repaired. Where is the Climate Control unit in our Cars with the Navigation?

I've already replaced the (DCCV) Valve, so just need this last thing done to get it working.

Thanks!

It's not a conventional climate control unit like the regular cars have, it's a remote mount box, basically sits between the navi screen and the glove box. I don't have my parts manuals in front of me, but download my EPC and it will show you where it is located in the exploded parts diagrams.

Take care,

George

Yes it's called the RCCM. Remote Climate Control Module.

What problems are you experiencing with it?

Yes I did noticed that, it isn't like the conventional cars... I've looked in between the Navi and the Glove box, but nothing seem to be it... Can you send, or post an exploded diagram of it??

Thanks,
JG

I'm dealing with this myself right now. The box you're looking for is above the glove box. Remove the glove box, then take out the plastic frame work behind it. You'll see the box right there.

Repair & Upgrade - JaguarClimateControl.com

I just got mine out and it's fried in two places. I'm going to try to fix it with a diode so it can't happen again, but am still researching how to do that. I've never soldered anything this small either.... the burnt path is tiny tiny.

You need to add wires to the CCM, replacing the traces with wiring. Jump the trace between what they call solder "pads" Post a pic of it open and I'll explain.

Where are you located?

Take care,

George

I couldn't find enough info on this diode trick, so I just fixed it with a wire between the pad and plug pin. I didn't have the parts to do it and I needed the car running again, but I think I'm going to take it back out and add an inline fuse on that jumper wire. Now that the trace is jumped with a wire, I'm afraid that when the DCCV shorts again (yeah, if, not when!) then it will fry something on that board which is much less easily fixed.

You think a 12v 2A inline fuse would be sufficient?

It would prevent "overcurrent" conditions, but not dead shorts. Actually thinking about it, you probably need the fuse and the diode for 100% protection. I would leave the fuse external to the ccm though.

Take care,

George

DCCV's fail in 2 ways:

First Internal resistance of the coils lowering due to corrosion (thus having high current demands) and burning out the trace - the fuse will help here.

Second, dead shorting the +12v supply pin to the ground inputs from the transistors, shorting +12v to the pins that when the CCM is on are at ground. Dead shorting them, and once again the trace acts as a fuse. The diode will prevent the reverse voltage from reaching the transistors.

Take care,

George

There is a company who advertises on Ebay that can fix it for $100.

There are multiple places in the output-transistor-DCCV circuit where you might mean to put the diode, as well as which way round it is - please give details of what you mean.
