Default Why did you chose your car?

Hello, I'm thinking I'm going to be looking for a Jag here shortly, and I wan't to know why you guys chose your car. I've been looking at the X and S type's I personally like the S types appearance more then the X type. However the X type offers AWD. What are some cool features that the S has that you enjoy?

I travel quite a few miles each year and was looking for a comfortable highway cruiser. The S-type fit my needs very well. It gets what I consider great highway mileage for a vehicle of its size and looks like nothing else on the road. The trunk is rather small compared to other cars, but I typically travel alone.

Seemed like a good idea at the time!

Other than that it is quiet, smooth, fast, nice handling, comfy and uses nottoo much fuel.

I was looking at used Maximas, Infinitis and other Japanese offerings when I stumbled upon my S-type. I was blown away by the value. I got a Jag for 5K less than a cookie-cutter Japanese import!

jace, I owned a 2002 X-Type 3.0 and belonged to the "X" forum. While working hard to keep the car together (worst AWD system), couldn't help peeking over at the "S" forum, especially the 400 chp 4.2 L s/c S-Type R. Watched several Youtube vids of it... "What a sexy muscular sedan". Though many non Jag people reluctantly aren't turned on by the looks of this beast, why does she continue to turn theirs and others heads? Denial!

I was trying to talk my wife into a Camry when we spotted this s type ridiculously cheap. I was never impressed with jags but like the s type styling. Took the car for a drive and fell in love with it. I find the x type too small and the s type the perfect size. Might be because I'm 6'. I would but a set of winter tires and go with the s type.

Its a JAGUAR, nuff said.

Having had most all of teh marques offerings since 1968, and loooooooooved all of them for their offerings at that time frame in life, and sheer "Jaguar-ness" did it every time.

My XJ-S V12 still sits quite high in the "keeper" stakes, although no longer in the fleet.

The X300 is the interstate cruiser, and fair dinkum an awesome beast.

"Her" S Type is 6 weeks in the fleet, and replaced her XJ-S, and she now does NOT miss the XJ-S one bit.

Take your time, look for the right car, look some more, do LOTS of test driving, and make sure loooooong distances are included, so any gremlins that may be "doctored" can appear and sit in your brain for negotiating time.

When the choice is narrowed somewhat, ask the death question, "when was the trans oil last changed", and since you have read ALL the threads on here about that little item, make your decission.

We looked at 7 cars, and only 2 had documented PROOF that the trans oil had in fact been changed at all in the 100k km limit we put on the required cars speedo. The one we got was a 8/01 3ltr, one owner, 119000kms, etc, etc. We have so far been proved OK with all we had on the "shopping list".

Best bang-for-the-buck luxury rear-wheel-drive highway cruiser I could find for my wife's 6 to 7 solo trips per year to and from Tampa when I went looking for a sedan back during the depths of the depression in December 2008. The incredible MPG numbers were an added benefit I was not expecting. It has truly been a great car for us....

Just be sure you can DIY most of the care and feeding these cars routinely need. Read the sticky threads from cover to cover here on the S-Type forum to educate yourself, and when you're looking for an actual S-Type, keep in mind that the newer ones are better than the older ones due to Jaguar improving the model as it aged. They all have their quirks, but the quirks are fewer and usually less costly with the later model runs....

Looks, performance, price, and the fact that I finally have a truck to drive in the winter and when my car needs work.

If I were to design a mid-sized luxury car, the S-Type would be it.

I love the exterior looks and the color choice was exactly what I liked.

Besides the exterior design, I also liked the interior leather and burl walnut wood appointments. Nothing compares to Jaguar wood and leather - - it's like being in an old pub or a smoking lounge.

I have also always liked the Jaguar pedigree. There's a certain sophistication with the Jaguar heritage and therefore owning a part of that history.

One more quick thing - - the advantage with purchasing a newer S-Type model is that many of the Jaguar OEM accessories are still available for purchase.

In the past year, I have been able to get items like the Rear Seat Connectivity System Monitors// R Performance Wheels// Birdseye Wood and Leather Steering Wheel// SIRIUS radio// 6-disc CD Autochanger.

To me the STR REALLY stands out. you don't see many STRs as you commonly see benz and bimmers. I'ts not every day you see an STR on the road But when I do see them cruising on the street It blows my mind. Dont get me wrong mecedes and BMW look nice but nothing compaired to a Jaguar, even the name Jaguar sounds bad *** and gives off that sense of class, luxury, and high performance when you hear the name. A lot of the older folks at work say they cant picture me driving in one Because im just a young adult, saying that those are old people's cars even with the exeption that it's The R model.

Props. to you Despite you being a young adult, you made a mature choice. The 07 STR is a refined gentlemans luxery performance sedan. I wish I had an 07 STR at your age.
