Default Wife broke down again

Good afternoon all I have written previous posts and you all have been helpful to me.
This time some thing new wife broke down in our stype 3.0 Petrol in traffic , managed to crawl to a private company car park .
I drove to her in our xf didn’t take my top don reader tried a few things but no good so took her home , collected car last night to save being stripped took my top don reader though new no good as because of all the disconnecting I had previously did, but wanted to clear codes hoping it would drive , there was 13 codes deleted all and off we went all of 2 miles from where we live, left car over night , started this morning no problem, took my top don with me and drove a few miles parked up connected machine whilst ticking over and waited , about ten minutes then there was a sort of power loss just for a short second , I reved car and up came usual codes .
in the past I have put on a jaguar lower caburetta with throttle control sensor by jaguar , Map sensor after market one, and both of these codes lit up on my top don reader, it seems when the car gets hot the car breaks down and these two codes p1108 and pO121 , I say in car I cleared codes and waited 10 mins it started and drove home as if nothing happened any ideas please.

I think, I will be excused, if I do not understand everything you wrote above, but I saw "p1108 and pO121" - that latter one actually being p0121 (Zero, not O for Oscar)...:

The P0121 has to do with throttle position sensor / issues with throttle body.
Just a hunch I am having there AGAIN, as this seems to become my standard advise for many of the recent questions posted on the forum: Check the throttle motor CONNECTOR:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...nector-288221/

...and in your case: also check every other connector around the throttle body.

And since you also have the P1108: Check the MAP sensor connector and MAP sensor, too...

Thankyou. For your reply, both connectors are in excellent condition,

With "both" I assume you meant the one for the throttle motor and the MAF. It's a good start, but you should continue checking connectors (as a minimum the connector to the throttle position sensor, and the throttle position sensor itself as well).
Also the MAF sensor itself, too.
Another thing to check regarding sudden and intermittent "death" of the car would be the main earth connections (check, if they really do have an electrical connection, or if the connections are corroded and thus intermittent...)

Has the stalling been a recurring issue? You mentioned the "usual codes". Or maybe some other ongoing problem, seemingly unrelated?

Huh? No idea on that one. Even Google was stumped.

Seems like a failing or weak battery.

Check available voltage using a voltmeter across the battery terminals with the ignition in the OFF position for at least thirty minutes. Voltmeter should indicate a minimum of 12.6 volts.

Many random DTCs and instrument cluster warnings are the result of a failing or weak battery.

Well, yes, a failing battery is always suspect No. 1.
That should always be checked first.
But if the battery checks out OK, have - as I described above - a look at that connector.
I did not mention before that you should also check, if the wiring to that connector is undamaged, as this is quite obvious, but maybe I should add this:

Note that rats and mice love to chew on cables - and if the information, which I read here many years ago somewhere on this forum was correct, it is not the rats and mice, which are "stupid", but it was Jaguar (which was stupid), just like many other luxury brands, because it is quite likely that Jaguar used environmentally friendly cable insulation (cost effective too), which is soy-based, and rats and mice view this as a food source...

Hello,
I have had repeated problems with codes appearing and also my 2003 S Type R entering "creep" mode.
Every time the issue was rectified by my local mechanic and sometimes the dealer.
But, the car seems to exhibit these Gremlins.
However, all has been well for the past 3 months when I replaced the red power batter cable with a used on I bought on Ebay.
Apparently, I kinked my original cable when re-attaching it to the battery pole when bringing the car back to life after winter storage.
This kink created intermitent low voltage situations. I am thinking that low voltage (anti-spikes) are the cause of many an appearance of codes and bad behaviour as described above.

This issue created the situation where my wife will not drive the car. However, I love driving it and have been willling to have faith which I certainly do now (although it is early to say for sure).

Might try to do the easy and cheap thing by having the
battery checked with the car running to see if the alternator is working properly
check and clean your battery cable connections

Cheers,
Rich

Get a cheap meter and check voltage yourself.

One suggestion?
Get a cheap DC volt meter that plugs into the cigarette lighter. I like the ones that also have a USB charging port built in.

Yes battery condition is a big deal so yes those problems could be just signs of a battery issue.
How old is the battery?
Answer NBCat's question as that will tell us a lot about the batteries condition.
