Success! The oil smell stayed around for a few weeks and became stronger before disappearing completely. I think it was burning off old deposits because there were no leaks. So, I think I am done...

I think the last model of the XF 5.0 NA was 2012, but the XFR (5.0 SC) continued until late 2015 when the XF X260 came out and then it was discontinued.
Pretty sure both the NA and SC versions used...

Nope. Just did it- no reflash. Even used a valve body from a different Trans. I swapped out the valve body, the filter, the squarish seal for the valve body and the round connector one on the side.
