Do research, there is NO need to drill, at least not on my 02, you have to remove the inner fender liner, long thin straight slot s/d did the trick for me in an existing hole.

My 2000 XJ8 takes exactly 8 quarts. I use Mobil1 5W-30. I'm in the USA desert southwest so hot summers, virtually no winters.

Probably 0W30 or 5w40 or as Castrol suggest 0w40 :- and up to the top of the hatch mark on the dip stick....
