A normal car will be running with STFTs near zero once it's been run enough because any largish STFTs move the LTFTs and in doing so the STFTs head nearer zero. (Thus the S & L in STFT & LTFT.)

So long as the engine was HOT (rather than just warm) then if the LTFTs at idle were also quite small you don't have an air leak at idle. Were they also small?

It's then worth looking at things...
