I wouldn't argue about the diesel S-Type but equally they didn't sell many of them. The petrol S-Types are very much Jaguar cars.

You're wrong on the XF as it was to replace the S-Type not X-Type...

It doesn't look too clear in the workshop manual (it's a free download somewhere) but looks to be on the right of the boot probably behind some trim/carpet.

May be near where the fuel filler is...

If you do run it - and you don't need to - get it decently hot, preferably 20 mile or more run. Don't just start and idle for 5 mins - worse than doing nothing.

+1 on full fuel, proper battery...

Someone may have thought that - people have some very odd ideas! - but just use them or don't, the car doesn't care. Jaguar are not going to have shipped a car with paddles which aren't OK to use.
