36 looks to be the airbag which I doubt is wired there - but check the electrical guide and/or workshop manual, free downloads.

If you can't/won't DIY the simple stuff (servicing, oil/brakes/etc changes) then they can easily be expensive cars. At the very least you need an affordable jag indy.

I used the "wrong" kind on my STR - it had a somewhat longer cable which I tied out of the way. Hardly a big deal.

Not if it's working right. There should be an increase in revs.

The PCM knows it's engaging the compressor, which is an extra load, so revs up to handle it.

However, the PCM (with TCM) will defend the car against damage :)

Something sounds wrong. The PCM knows when the a/c is engaged and knows how to rev up a little to handle it so what you have shows it's not working right - low on a/c gas maybe? Failing compressor?...

Someone may have thought that - people have some very odd ideas! - but just use them or don't, the car doesn't care. Jaguar are not going to have shipped a car with paddles which aren't OK to use.

Realistically if you can't DIY or find someone competent but much cheaper than a dealer these cars (as with other luxury cars) can be a money pit.
