Boot lock problem

Have a problem with the Lid (Boot) not closing the latch . Is there a small adjustment ?
Mechanically it sounds OK . The inner spring looks OK. The movement sounds OK when I push the Lid button.

Dipstick 1978 XJ6 ser.2

On my 78 after changing oil by dropping the pan and replacing the gasket
I put a little over 4 quarts in the pan.

Then warm it up and check fluid at idle speed and should read about 1/4" above...

The front is 27 3/4, the rear is 24 1/2 .
