you need a 3/8" ratchet, a 3/8" woobly or u-joint adapter and the proper socket for a 3/8" ratchet.

the mirror is glued to a plastic base which snaps into ball pivots. Obviously it came off one of the pivots, unless the pivot arm broke.

try finding the side that is loose and then getting it...

since apparently you have more than 1 XJ, try replacing the ignition switch from a good car in the bad one. you might have a bad ignition switch or even a disconnected ignition switch.

I've owned my (1983 build) 1984 XJ-6 since 1989. I have never cleaned its injectors, the engine runs fine. I believe injector cleaning is not neccessary.

are you familiar with AJ6 Engineering?...
