I think that is fibre reinforced cable, not co-ax. the fibres are to protect the current - carrying red and blue normal wires. if the blue and red have normal copper cores, just make a normal join.

The fixing bolt at the bottom left of the tank is hardest to see and get at, FYI. If you get your head down level with the tank, you can see the bolts under the battery tray.

As Doug said, the UJs on the rear axle are not the same as those on the propshaft. The axle ones are stronger and if you use propshaft ones in this application they will fail.
