I've seen them brazed with lower heat, but recommend the expensive replacement as now they may be brittle and cause more serious damage on an accidental parking bump.

Could be sloppy transmission mount or driveshaft middle joint. Get under car and grab tranny and push around, if it moves, new mount. I you have a central driveshaft mount check it too.

Seeing it is posted in XJ6 I removed the tanks in both my XJ6s. One a 73 series 1, the other a 79 Series 2. Made it easy to replace and clean everything. Make sure tank is low on fuel and drain it.
