Default Just got my Maelstrom wheels!!

Just received my set of 4 x SVR Maelstrom rims direct from Jaguar. I was so excited to get them installed but it appears there are some defects on the front 2 wheels, and these are brand new. I am not even sure what caused these aberration since the rim feels completely smooth to the touch.

Yeah - no. Could not accept those. Especially guessing what they cost.

Yes I am definitely going to return the 2 defective wheels. Cost too much for anything less than perfect

Love the wheels! It might be the angle but it reminded me of legs in the air, now I cant unsee it.

How much do they cost and do you know the weight for fronts and rears?

They are roughly $980/wheel. I'll weigh them tonight, but the shipping label put the box plus the wheels at 34lb.

The front wheels measured 28.0 lbs, and the rear 28.9 lbs. Not the lightest rims, but acceptable. My original gyrodynes came in at 32.5 lbs front and 34 lbs rear. About a 5 lbs. savings on each wheel.

Thank you Zmoothg,

I read somewhere that the SVR wheels were Forged, but there is a lot of misinformation out there with manufacturers calling their wheels constructed with a new "Free Flow" casting process forged wheels. They are definately lighter than the gyrodynes so perhaps they are forged. ??? They are definately pretty too!

Were these ordered aftermarket or with the car originally? I hope you can hold out for the correct wheels. Some sellers will claim that the 'imperfection' is just a case of bad 'light reflection'.......

I'm showing my ignorance, and 'Newbie' status, as I am in the position of deciding between F-type, and C-7 GS. Narrowed from MB, 911, and these. I am leaning toward the F, and these wheels look really nice, but the finish problems do not. Were they ordered with the original build, or as a later accessory?
I hope you are not having problems with your dealer replacing the bad ones. I have had good and horrible experiences with Fla. auto dealers. Have 3 Jag. dealers to consider here. That will be one deciding factor for me.

The problem with the finish was a fluke and should not have happened or passed inspection. Like I said my two rear wheel which came from a different jaguar warehouse are perfect. The two front wheels which came from a different facility had this damaged. They are sending me out replacement front wheels this week. The wheels are not orderable unless you own an SVR or know someone who does. You'll need the VIN of an SVR and the part numbers to be approved to order these.

New to this form and i have a question about these wheels. Will they fit any F-type without ceramic breaks? The offset on my v6s awd rearwheels are 27mm (19x9.5) and these are 54 (20x11). I guess the offset and wider wheel will "place" them closer to the suspension

Sorry for my bad spelling

That is correct. The wheel face will remain in virtually the same location. No problem with the Maelstroms fitting.

Zmoothg do you have an SVR? I was under the impression that you needed a SVR vin to be able to order these. If indeed you do have an SVR perhaps there are minor damages on the current wheels? If that's the case, what are you going to do with the current set?

I do not have an SVR, but yes you do need an SVR vin to be able to order these. My current wheels are the beautiful Gyrodynes with 1200 miles on them. I will be selling those with the OEM P-Zeros, and selling the front wheels without the tires as I moved them over to the Maelstroms, I decided to get the 305/30/20 Michelin PSS in the rear. Once the P-zeros in the front die, ill move them over to the MPSS as well.
