Is there an XJS Addicts Anonymous support group? A little over a year ago I did not have a Jaguar and was perfectly happy with my little Saturn. Now I can't sleep because XJS LHD car number 613 from 1975 just started its journey towards my garage. I can't wait to see her.

Used to be my Garage Sunday 2PM, bring your own booze, and the BBQ is always on.

THEN

I stopped drinking, simply gave it away, sold the V12's, went to the "dark side" as its called.

You are travelling very well along that path, I stopped at 8.

I've always had a car problem. Most at once: 4 but they were all Volvos... Sold them all, apart for one. My C30.

Then came the Jag dream car purchase in 2013 (my XJ-S). 2015 saw then the purchase of a daily driver Jag (X300). Considered keeping 3 cars but then sold the C30. So it was XJ and XJ-S for a week. Then it was down to only the XJ-S as I crashed the X300. A month later back to 2 Jags (X308).

I would love to go Jag Shopping again. Get a nice Series 3 XJ12, a pretty X305 (the V12 pinnacle), a MK X/420G, convert an XJ40 to a 2JZ and maybe sometime possibly even soon to replace my piece of poop XJ8 a pretty XE...

Sign me up Grant, no XJS but I need a support group for my XJ addiction. It stopped 3 times today, but still got me home without a tilt tray......that's always a bonus.
Still an intermittent spark or fuel issue there somewhere. More likely fuel as it dies under acceleration after slowing for traffic or on ramps. But fires up again straight away. Shows no sign of mis-fire as soon as you touch the loud pedal.

Looks like I am not alone. :-) LHD #631 came to me in a twist of fate. All I wanted was a parts car to mess with, so I would not ruin my 1988 XJS while learning things. A local 1986 XJS would have fit the bill, but the owner was a grumpy know-it-all. So I expanded my search and found a 1976 XJS in St. Louis, MO with no pictures and a 74-year old owner that did not know how to use a smart phone. I bought it unseen and had it uShip-ped to Minnesota. LHD #2268 turned out way too nice for a parts car, but was perfect for putzing with the engine. Well, once you have a 1976 XJS that looks like the signal red launch car in most brochures, you do need a 1975 XJS. Right? So I started contacting sellers of 1976 cars and promptly found one in Oregon that was made in 1975. So I had to have it and explained to my wife how it will be a good investment. :-)

I joined the forum a year ago to find out whether to replace the timing chain tensioners on my XK8. But I just came out as a self-aware Jag addict. :-) I even looked up how I can stack two XJS in one garage stall using pallet racks.

Andy,

Remember in Jaguar XjS circles, you have a special status because you have a 1975 XJS which is a special car! Bathe in the reflected glory and don't sell it!

Cheers

Paul

Hi Paul

I've just remembered I've got 1986 XJS V12 Coupe under a Canvas somewhere.

Is that 'special status' or a bit too New?

Paul,

Then only way I will ever sell LHD #613 (she needs a real name) is if I find one with a lower number. :-)
Just kidding, if I find one with a lower number, I will get serious about stacking them. I have seen it done.

Andy

86 is very special, probably the most special. That is my 'production year' But going by the most common cars here in the forum, a Coupé is rare, full stop. Most have a convertible. Some even have 3...
