Hello, actually I don't own a jaguar, I was always attracted from the brand and I decided I will buy one in a short time, I started reading this forum and the reviews about the S Type and finally I tested drive a 2007 3.0 for sale in Miami ( I live in the Keys one hour from Mia) I liked it a lot, than I realized used prices of S Type and Xj8 are very similar in my area so last week I went to test drive a 2004 XJ8, I loved the shape of the car, the handling and the interior but the engine performance was a little bit delusional, I imagined was more reactive with acceleration and transmission response, compared with my 2008 Cadillac DTS ( they have basically same acceleration and engine displacement) was pretty slow.
I'm planning to test drive again a couple different xj8 soon to see if the performance it is the same of the previous one I drove, I also read about the transmission who memorize "the style driving" of the owner and I also thought may be the one I drove went most of the time around time or at very low speed, this is why was slow.

Welcome to the forum Roberto,

It sounds like you are finding your way around the model forums so there's no need for any links from me.

Enjoy your Jaguar search.

Hello, Roberto,
I drove one of those cars with the "smart transmission" once, mother-in-law gave it to husband when she quit driving, a 2002 Ford Windstar V6 van we called Wart..
I very soon "retrained" it though, by driving my normal manner, with Great Enthusiasm and Enormous Panache. After a couple months of that, Wart "learned" to keep up and we won many, um, "Contests" on the Passing Lanes. In fact, that was one of the few things he had going for him.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Hello Again, I tested drive 2 cars today and finally I gave a down payment for a 2005 xj8L who needs a little bit of TLC, headliner is sagging, missing owner manual and jack, A/C control in dashboard has broken screen basically doesn't show anything, only a key with no any remote, rather than that except for a couple of scratch everything looks ok, car has 106K miles, air shock are original and the ride was good with no noise.I will pick it up next Monday and I will start to work on it immediately.

Welcome.

Well done.

I agree with Elinor, "sometimes ya gotta drive em like ya stole em", and that has always worked for me.

Good luck.

To get to know the vehicle before Monday, you can download a PDF copy of the 2005 Owners Handbook free from my MediaFire account:

If you don't already have a MediaFire account, sign up for the free version and ignore all "offers" displayed in the process.

thank you for the link GGG, and thank you everybody for your help, actually I'm trying to discover the best way to remove the awful pinstripe the previous owner put on the car.

If it's the adhesive vinyl type, warm it with a hair drier and it will peel off without damaging the paint.
