Default Let the fun begin, when tensioners fail

I recently finally got my XJR! I had almost finished restoring my X300 and fell in love with a new gal. I knew she had a timing issue from the sale videos

So here she is...... needs some love and some lesomengs for those who want to see what happens when tensioners dont get upgraded! Previous owner was not a car guy, so may well have not noticed the early rattling sounds.

Work done to this point:
Removed supercharger and rebuilt snout
Got bored waiting on parts so reamed out the intake elbow, under the throttle body (cos why not)
Changed upper tensioners then attempted to turn motor over
Removed drivers side head to reveal some surprises.....
Aint she purdy!?
Aint she purdy!?

She cracked
She cracked

Lets remove some restrictions

Love the color! Hope the surprises didn't make the deal and steal (seller steal, that is). And also, so I'm not the only one who has multiple jags in various states of conditions on my property! I will have to show the pic toy wife to prove my membership in a club where this is nearly a prerequisite to being in the "I fix older Jaguars, big whoop wanna fight about it" club!? I believe it shows a certain level of fearless. My beautiful wife of 23 years lovingly thinks is shows a certain level of something else but we'll just leave it there 😂

I believe I may know the something else!!

Thanks, I love the paint on this one too.

I knew it would be some work, was advertised as having issues and price reflected it, plus got it down a bit too. Went in with at least one eye open!

Managed to get a 2nd block, as a back-up and will do some more investigation for the bore condition, was surprisingly clean, at first glance. Got a new head now too so excited for next step. Nothing quite like reviving a beauty!
