fuel pump
Can anybody help me please! My 1996 xj6 refuses to start. It turns on the key but does not fire.Battery appears fine and there is no smell of petrol.I am totally clueless about cars except I like driving my Jag.Been suggested I might need fuel pump.Anybody got any advice ,I don't even know where to find the fuel pump.
Thanks Clueless owner Inverness |
Hi,
Could also be your inertia switch has tripped which disables the fuel pump. Not sure where it is on your car, could be above the pedals or behind the panel by your right leg. When you find it there should be a button on the top. Press it down and try again. Hope this helps. |

Thanks for the quick reply.I will see what I can find. Thanks Again Grant |
Welcome to the forum Grant,
I've checked back on my records of non-starts on my 1996 X300 and found four causes: 1. CPS (Crankshaft Position Sensor) - connector 2. TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) - failed 3. Harness multiplugs (the black and the white ones behind the RH headlamp) - dirty 3. ISCV (Idle Speed Control Valve) - dirty When you get a minute, please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST section and post some info about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum. Graham |
