Our new event header for our 2020 event :-)

OK, I am at it again :-)

We already have a number of event sponsors and attendees signed up for this one, & I am working hard on giving us the biggest and best event so far with more club/forum participation, more Jaguars spanning even further into Jaguars history, a more challenging quiz module on Jaguar to see if our 2019 winners can retain their places as our most knowledgeable attendees, more awards, prizes, additional fun competitions on the day, and everything I can possibly pack into it for you.

Please keep an eye on this thread as we go. I will kick off the usual feed regarding numbers of attendees, sponsors etc just after our 2019 event has finished.

If you have attended our previous events please, please consider signing up for this one - and if you have not been to one of our events before, why not give us a try this year? We have an incredible FREE Jaguar day out for you!

SteveSheldon 05-28-2019 06:49 AM

Ok guys, we have some huge changes on the go regarding our 2020 event, for you! Everything from how you register, getting into our main venue easier than ever, rescheduling the features to match with what you would prefer, automatic entry into the prize draw and the class awards on the day, and so much more.

We already have some signups from attendees, clubs/forums and sponsors - and we will be increasing the size of the event to give us capacity for 200 Jaguars on the day giving you the best Jaguar day out that we can.

We will still (without a doubt lol) still have a grassroots feel to the event, and not everything will go completely to plan, but there will be a much smoother feel to the event giving you even more of a Jaguar day out experience :-)

I will keep everyone in the loop here with the usual details of who has signed up, how things are developing as we go (yep the clock is already ticking) *but* this year all the signup info can be found on the event website via the '2020 Event' page.

I have already been in contact with Denbies and they are happy to confirm our booking for next year - so that is our main venue booked, now I need to get the synopsis of our 2019 event written and up online and start implementing the improvements to our event :-)

SteveSheldon 05-30-2019 01:29 PM

OK Guys, I have taken everyones comments onboard from our previous event and our 2020 event has a host of improvements for you:

The event website has now moved from free webhosting, to paid webhosting (still the best deal out there I can find) and as a result images are starting to make it onto our site.

The timings for features on the day are being moved to more closely match what people want

I have set up a simplified registration system that includes free entry into the prize draw, guaranteed entry into the judging for awards, and the option to enter the free Christmas competition.

Every attendee has a unique resistration that allows me to ship any awards or prizes directly to them should they have to leave early.

Event updates and running totals will remain in forum threads, and our Facebook page but for all the info on how to register, our current and past events can always be found on our website at JaguarForumsUK - The free annual convoy & meet event for Jaguar owners - please feel free to take a look and consider signing up for our even better 2020 event :-)

SteveSheldon 05-31-2019 05:06 AM

Ok, a percentage of our images are now on our event website, for those of you without social media, or unable to access the event images via our OneDrive account - just look at the Our 2019 Event page online at JaguarForumsUK - The free annual convoy & meet event for Jaguar owners

SteveSheldon 05-31-2019 05:32 AM

OK guys, all the webhoster branding has now gone from the event website, you have a selection of the images from our 2019 event there for you to check out, as well as links to the entire archive (photos are coming in steadily and going onto our OneDrive account, and Facebook albums as we go for you), the streamlined registration system seems to be working fine after a few initial teething issues, the website metatags have been updated but it looks like the changes will take a while to filter through, I am currently looking at the timings and features of our event, and next week will make a start on contacting all our event sponsors.

If you have been to any of our previous events you will know we have had some wrinkles in the day, and every year we improve things - well, this year I have a host of changes and improvements that I am working on for you, like for example free entry into the prize draw, guaranteed inclusion in award judging, streamlined registration, even making sure you get your awards or prizes if you have to leave us early on the day (although we do still have a whole day set up for you :-) I really hope that you like the changes and improvements and are happy to help us to our target of 200 Jaguars for this event.

I also know that if you don't up your game, you cannot improve, and to this end I am pleased to announce that our event has a Patron this year, who will be mentoring me in how to improve everything for you guys.

So go on, why not pencil our event into your diary? Sunday 24th May 2020 and let us give you a Great British Day Out for Jaguar Owners (yep, that is the new catchphrase for our event lol).. it would be great to have you along, and it would be incredible if we can manage 200 Jaguars for 2020.

Also, don't forget we have our anniversary event in 2021 where we are looking for 300 or so Jaguars from not just the UK but also Europe, and possibly stateside - I currently have invitations lodged with a number of European clubs to see what involvement we can get from Jaguar owners & clubs from arounf Europe :-) More news to come on that as we go over the next 24 months.

If you need any more information about our event pleae feel free to visit our website at JaguarForumsUK - The free annual convoy & meet event for Jaguar owners and have a look through all the information we have there :-)

SteveSheldon 06-07-2019 02:49 AM

Ok everyone, it's a Friday, and we may have only just launched our 2020 event but there is stackloads going on.

Our event has moved from being financed by the Prize Draw to a small registration fee that includes FREE Welcome Packs, FREE entry into the Prize Draw, Guaranteed inclusion in the award judging (your Jag must be present for this), and the option of FREE entry into our Christmas competition for a Christmas present for your Jaguar. One of the plusses with this is the registration process has been streamlined and you receive your official dashboard ticket for the event at registration :-)

I have spent quite a bit of time working on our website at JaguarForumsUK - The Great British Day Out for Jaguar Owners trying to improve your experience. The site has more of a solid consistent feel to it now, however I am still adding features in and tidying things up. I have given up trying to keep the web address consistent, as it was disabling the mobile friendly view - so now you can browse our site easily with your mobile, as well as your PC or laptop :-)

Our new patron has given me my first hit list of things to sort, and I am working through it currently.

In addition to all this discussions are still taking place regarding the event layout, convoy element, and timings so please keep an eye on the event via forum thread, social media, or our website for the latest as we go, or drop me a line with your thoughts and get involved :-)

Finally, I am currently making contact with our current event sponsors, and as responses come in I am updating the 2020 event details. I will be making contact with Uk & European clubs next week hopefully regarding club & forum affiliations which give clubs access to add public club events to our event diary, advertising for a year, and an allocated club area at our 2020 event..

Now for the stats (some way to go to match our 2019 event stats :-))

Our event Facebook page now has 628 friends
Our Twitter feed has 594 followers
Our Instagram account has 274 followers
Our forum threads have already received 679 hits
We have 10 Jaguars spanning 22 years of production signed up

Please bear with me as I continue to pull everything into place for our 2020 event, and please feel free to check in regularily, or drop me a line and get involved, as we head towards the biggest event we have ever organised :-)

SteveSheldon 06-10-2019 06:06 AM

Just a quick update for everyone:

We now have 11 Jaguars signed up
The number of event sponsors re-signing is steadily increasing, which is fantastic news
You can now prebook a free diagnostics session for your Jaguar at the event!
We now have online registration at the website making it easier than ever to sign up
We are working on a new Features section for the event website giving you the lowdown on some incredible specialist companies out there
If you are travelling from abroad, without your Jaguar for our event, I will try to team you up with a British Jaguar owner that is attending so you can still have a great Jaguar experience with us - just drop me a line at JaguarForumsUK@solidlinux.co.uk.
The event is now officially 'The JaguarForumsUK Great British Day Out for Jaguar Owners' - it still doesn't roll off the tongue but matches what the day out is for everyone.
I am looking into creating A4 posters for the event - if you would be happy to display one advertising our event please just drop me a line - it would be fantastic if you could.
Our event is officially non-profit (although it has always been non profit - usually negative if honest lol), with a percentage of registration income going to the RNLI, and I am just about to enter talks with the Rotary Club.
I am still looking for the best way to keep the event forum threads up to date this year, as so much has changed since our 2019 event.. updates on this to come and please bear with me whilst I figure things out.
Other than that - I have started getting organised for our free Christmas competition for attendees - full info to come in August/September :-)

If anyone has any ideas on what else we could do for attendees, or better ways of doing what we are doing please, please get involved - drop me a line, and if I can figure out how to implement your ideas for everyone I will.

Meanwhile please consider signing up for what promises to genuinely be the biggest event I have ever organised for everyone :-)

Just a quick update for everyone.. as you know our event is constantly up to something right through the year and this year is no exception :-)

The affliate invitations have now gone out - offering clubs the chance to become affiliated with our event.. the plusses being that they get free advertising right through to our 2020 event, can advertise their public events on our event calendar, and can reserve a club allocated area on the day itself. If you have received an invite please consider connecting with our event, and if you haven't received an invitation please just get in touch and ask for some info.

Our event has grown to a size where despite being non-profit we can help charitable causes - we are currently supporting the RNLI, which is close to our Patrons heart, and I am curently in discussions with the Rotary Club in Dorking.

Additionally I am now starting work on the poster design for our 2020 event - if you would be happy to display a poster advertising our 2020 event to your customers or visitors please let me know - this year (being the first year of doing posters) will just be ink jet printed A4 but next years posters will be professionally printed.

Oh yes, I am also still waiting on quotes, or ball park figures to come in from the printers regarding our Welcome Packs sheets now that our event is too big for me to do it at home - as soon as I have more info on that I will update you.

My promotion of our event on social media has been flatlined for the past couple of weeks due to the workload I am paddling thorugh to get everything in place, but should pick up again in a few weeks time once I have everything under control here - so apologies if you are used to daily pics from our event on Twitter or Instagram, but they will start up again shortly :-)

SteveSheldon 06-12-2019 06:45 AM

OK guys, a quieter day for me so far but still quite a bit going on regarding our event..

The 2020 event page on the website has been revamped to make it easier to share with our forum threads,

Talks are very much in progress with North Amercan Jaguar clubs,

I have just opened a new section on our website which will carry features on incredible Jaguar specialist companies filling you in on all the info you need to know about what they can offer you.

I have been following up our incrtedible sponsors for logo images as part of the work I am doing to smarten up our event website.

And I currently have designers block regarding our poster design lol - I will hopefully get past it and we will have our posters soon :-)

JaguarForumsUK - The Great British Day Out for Jaguar Owners #MayJagMeet

SteveSheldon 06-14-2019 05:11 AM

Ok Guys,

It's a Friday and time to update you with where we are with our event :-)

It has been a remarkably busy week considering it is almost a year until our next event :-)

We have extended our 'all year round' advertising from just the 'Friday Ad' to 'Friday Ad', 'FreeAds', and 'Gumtree', paying for a weblink on the Gumtree advertising to make it easier for people to access us directly from the advert.

Our events Facebook friends now come from as far afield as North America, Finland, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain & France to name a few.

We have started promoting the option for attendees travelling longer distances without their Jaguar, to team up with British Jaguar drivers on the day so they can still have a full on Jaguar experience with us.

We have had a good response overall, from our 2019 event sponsors with quite a number of them re-signing for 2020, and are in discussions currently with North America Jaguar Clubs, some additional new specialist companies in the UK, the Rotary Club in Dorking, and we are even seeing if we can work with the Jaguar Experience team at the Jaguar factory. As always only a percentage of everything in progress will be successful.. but (as always) I am on the case and quite persistent lol especially for win-win situations which these all are :-)

Our Scratchshield promotion has finished but we do wtill offer an attendee discount on the incredible Bag-World bespoke luxury luggage for your Jaguar.

And finally, not only has our event website been smartening up but you may have noticed a new section appearing called 'Features' This area will give you the lowdown on some incredible specialist companies and what they can offer you, which in some cases, you like me will be unaware of.

Please consider signing up for our event - all the sign up info you need is on the 'Our 2020 Event' page at the event website - we have an incredible event for you, and in the meanwhile you are very, very welcome to keep up to date with us, with the changes, improvements and more as we develop them, and don't forget the Christmas competition coming up too, free for attendees to sign up for :-)

Here are the stats so far for you:

Our website is getting busier, with far more use being maqde of it as an information source for both attendees and potential attendees :-)
Our event Twitter feed now has 594 followers
Our event Facebook page has 683 friends
Our event Instagram feed has 281 followers
We have 12 incredible sponsors signed up so far
We already have 3 trade stands booked up
We have two UK clubs affiliated with us to-date

Please find the current details of our 2020 event below - noting that it is subject to change as we go due to a raft of improvements and changes we are currently working on for you.

SteveSheldon 06-17-2019 07:05 AM

Over the course of the weekend, our event was picked up on Facebook by a number of people, and has since picked up a huge following :-)

I have been struggling to keep up with things, and we have now gone from just over 600 Facebook friends to over 1600 Facebook friends in 48 hours, and the figure is still climbing as I type.

If you have friended our event on Facebook, and I have not got back to you to say Thankyou, I apologise.. it does not mean I am ignoring you, I have just been overwhelmed by the numbers that I am dealing with.

A massive thankyou to everyone for choosing to friend our event and keep in touch with what we are up to - I genuinely appreciate it.

SteveSheldon 06-21-2019 04:46 AM

Ok, It's Friday and time for an update on how we are doing with our event.

The biggest news this week is our event's Facebook account! It has grown from just over 600 friends to over 2,200 with most of the growth over a 48 hour period. It has been incredible! Thankyou so much to everyone who chose to friend our event and get involved.

We have our first club allocated area request in, and you can now meet JEC East & West Sussex at our next event with their own area there. I have also made contact with a number of other UK clubs to see if I can interest them in Club Allocation Areas, Affiliations, or Club stands for the day.

Additionally we have received a donation via the events Paypal account which in view of peoples comments about our event signage, I am going to put towards replacing our signs for 2020. I know our signs were not as good as you guys really needed in order to get into the event smoothly so hopefully this will help ease that for you.

As you know our event constantly runs either just meeting its running costs, or at a loss, so for me it is a huge, absolutely huge thing that it now has enough support to start giving everyone the experience that they want.. a massive thankyou goes out to the person who made the donation, the support of our attendees, and everyone who has signed up to get involved whether it be friending us, registering for our next event, or getting involved in any of the many ways there are that you can. Without your support we wouldn't have the event we have, or finally be in the position where you can have the best possible Jaguar experience with the event. THANKYOU!

SteveSheldon 06-21-2019 05:54 AM

A massive thankyou goes out to our event Patron Frank Woodford MBE for this donation towards our signage, helping us to give you an even better experience for 2020.

Ok, what's happening currently with our event?

Our Facebook following has really picked up in the USA, with a lot of interest in our event from everyone there that loves British Jaguars. A massive Thankyou to everyone for their support.

One Jaguar club in America is happy being associated with us, I am working on getting the details in place, but it is taking a while to organise so details to follow as and when I get them.

We are promoting the option for non UK Jaguar owners to team up with British Jaguars attending - it will take a while for this to have any impact on non UK owners, but it does offer them another option for attending.

Discussions with the Rotary Club in Dorking, regarding their possible involvement with our event are ongoing. More info to come on this as soon as I know more.

I am part way through obtaining the quotes I need for our improved signage - we will have a large banner at the entrance to Denbies for 2020, and logo'd signs in Denbies pointing the right way to ensure you can enter the main event without issue.

I am currently waiting on the Features of specialist companies for you.. please keep an eye on our event website at www.solidlinux.co.uk for when they appear.

I am very aware that our Twitter & Instagram feeds are quiet currently, and they should be continuing with the level of activity you guys expect, but I can only be in so many places at any one time and have prioritised what we are progressing at this moment in time.

Thankyou again to absolutely everyone for your involvement with our event - I really do appreciate your help whether it be just following or friending us, or any of a number of ways you can be more involved with us - without you we would not have the incredible grassroots Jaguar event that we have.

Hi Guys, This years event made the July 2019 issue of Classic Car Monthly - you can find the article via the 'References' page at our event website at JaguarForumsUK - The Great British Day Out for Jaguar Owners. A massive thankyou goes to Grant Ford for his very balanced writeup.

Ok guys - so, so much is going on with our event and everything :-)

I have managed (despite our event lol) to get my usual family holiday manual written with a few weeks to spare - it contains a list of places to visit near where we will be based, with distances, car parking etc etc so I am hopefully out of the doghouse a little about the event taking up all my time :-)

The event has started to be picked up more by clubs and Jaguar owners outside the UK, and I am trying to encourage them to get involved with our event in any of a number of ways..as I genuinely feel that this will allow us to do even more with our event in the years to come - especially with our TENTH anniversay event coming up in 2021. Yep, I am planning long term here :-)

I am waiting to hear back from Purple Signs regarding our signage - I am sure they need more from me than I have been able to supply so far, so will give them until next week, and then get in contact to see what more needs to be done from my end to enable them to do this for us. These signs will make it much easier for you guys to find your way in on the day, and are professional signs taking us a good few levels up from what we have been working with so far for you.

I am going to keep working on the publicity side of our event through the summer, hopefully sorting our revised itinerary for the day, by the end of August, before I start work on our Christmas competition.

An absolutely massive thankyou to everyone involved with our event - without you guys I would have no chance of managing what we have done so far, let alone what is on the go for our 2020 event :-)

OK it's a Friday & still so, so much going on here!

Our events Twitter feed now has an incredible 600 followers, and our event Facebook page now has almost 3000 people from all around the planet watching our event!

The event website is still very much a 'work in progress' with loads more information yet to go online, but in the past week has been quite heavily hit not just by UK Jaguar owners, but also owners from Australia, USA, Austria, and China..

I am in the middle of negotiations with four companies that may be getting involved with our next event, including some companies you may not expect, but are nonetheless heavily involved with Jaguars.

I have heard nothing back from the company that is looking to produce our new event signage, so will be making contact with them next week with some additional design ideas hoping to be able to move forward with this & get it completed, and one task at least off the list.

As you likely know, our event now has a patron in Frank Woodford MBE - he has assisted us with a donation towards the cost of our event signage, and is helping keep me on track with regular prods in the directions I should be working.. lol.. I don't take too well to being directed.. but with his help we are much more on top of the two year plan for our event than we would have been with just me working on things - remembering that we are building up to our tenth anniversary event!

You may also know, that at the first event, I was very much against going to the trouble of organising another one, but thought I would give it a go.. and here we are not far from our tenth event! This has only happened because of the incredible support the event has had from everyone! When I have had lulls , you guys have encouraged me to move forward, when I have expected just me and tumbleweed everyone has turned up, even when there was storms and flashfloods all over the south east UK so many more people turned up than I expected. The Jaguar trade, and clubs & forums have all been incredible in their support of our event, and I just hope that our ninth and then tenth anniversary events manage to exceed our expectations :-)

Thankyou for everyones support - I genuinely appreciate it!

Just a quick update with some good news for our 2020 event.....

Please join me in welcoming Jaguar Parts 24/7 to our event as an incredible new sponsor.

They specialise in parts for the XJ40, XJS, X300, X308, XJ6, XJ8, XJ12, XJ81 Double Six, S-Type & X-Type Jaguars.

Please, please mention our event if contacting them :-)

Additionally there are three further potential sponsors I am in final negotiations with - more news to come on these as I go - but you may be surprised at the range of companies that are associated with Jaguars that are now coming onboard with us :-)

Our event ethos is that anyone from any background or walk of life is welcome at our event - you just need a Jaguar.. it is exactly the same with potential sponsors :-)

Jaguar as both a brand, and as the luxury cars we love, are central in so many businesses and roles.. so I am working on introducing them to us, and us to them, extending what we know of Jaguar to so much more :-)

Please bear with me with this.. it is very much a work in progress (as is everything we are up to lol) but I promise to try to introduce you to aspects of Jaguar you would never normally even consider or think of at our next event!
