I want to change my rear boxes. Give it a better sound. Something a V8 deserves.

JaguarForum.com's first ever South-East Meet:

Please bear with me as I don't have the best memory for names etc.. apologies in advance for any errors - please dont take any errors as personal lol - just poor memory on my part :-)

Also many thanks to those that attended, also to Jim and GGG who facilitated the meet along with a banner and decals - my thoughts are with those that wanted to attend but for various reasons could not (you are very, very welcome at the next meet if interested :-)) and finally thanks to Mike who started me off on this project by suggesting it lol

After two months of trying to get it together - and on a date that clashed with as little as possible, it was upon us Sunday morning.. the first ever JaguarForums South-East Meet.

I didn't get a chance to clean my baby Jag on Saturday so I was up 6:30am cleaning it on the day, and trying to turn it from a family car with two young children to an almost showroom car.. OK, I failed dismally but nonetheless it was reasonably shiny and clean by the time Mike arrived in Crawley at 9am.

Of course Mike (Mike213735) had spent the day before polishing his S type literally to showroom finish :-)

We cruised down the A23 to Brighton seafront and setup camp near the pier - it was cold - maybe four degrees, but dry and no wind. We put the banner inside my windscreen and went off for a coffee on the pier.

Whilst there, a red XK drove past us slowly and parked up next to our cars but by the time we got there the driver had vanished.. he was back after a few minutes though, and was a member of the Jaguar Owners Club forum (SwimmingCap). Apparently word of the meet had migrated to three forums as the date approached!

Within the next half hour the spaces around us had filled up with non Jaguars, and we had an S-Type R (Golan & Amanda), and another XKR (SCM & 5 litre!) parked nearby but unable to park with us as a block.

So we moved further down Madeira Drive away from the pier end.. and near a mini and a large pennant flying, and then went off for some brunch in thr Seagull cafe.

Sitting in there we saw mini after mini drive past - obviously it was a 'Mini Adventure' day :-) Making as Jim pointed out a Mini Jaguar Meet :-)

We discussed all sorts over brunch, it turning out that Amanda had some really classic Jaguars at home, Golan had a fix for Mikes engine management issues, me a fix for hazy headlights, and SCM had a very nice car..:-)

When we got back to our cars, the parking area from us down the road was all minis.. lol.. and if you look at the photos from the meet you'll see that we attracted a quite upmarket car to park next to us - obviously recognising the quality part of the parking area lol.

We all signed the banner, christening it with the first ever South East UK meet, and shared out the decals that Jim managed to get hold of for us.

After a fair degree of discussion, it was concluded my four wheel drive made my X-Type the only car out of us that can make it out in the snow and ice, and that Golan's S Type R had the sound Mike wanted for his car.. but the ultimate car there had to be SCM's 5 litre.

It was a good day out with good company all round... I like to think I have made a few new friends and once I have had a break would be very happy to organise and meet up maybe in the Summer - if I can interest anyone?

Nice one Steve, sounds like a great day out, with everyone happy!

Its a shame for those that missed out, but perhaps next time?

How about a pic of the signed banner Steve? This'll be good to add to the archives as it were, and an incentive for the next UK meet, wherever, whenever that'll be.

Thanks

Jim

I have been surprised at just how many viewings the thread got and very glad to not have just one selfie picture online at the end with me, a banner and tumbleweed. Lol.
A big thanks to those that came along even from another forum :-)

Cool Shame to have missed it.................

Well done guys. Obviously a lot of work was put into organising this event. I was really sorry to have missed it but it just wasn't
possible to get there in the end. Hopefully next time!

Thanks for all the effort, Steve, and sorry I couldn't make it - but the 75 and I will be up for a summer meet if one gets arranged.

Meanwhile - we do now have a new thread for the next proposed meet - anyone wanting to come along please drop a post into the new thread and we'll get you added in.. My hope being that if we can generate enough interest from those of us in the South East we will hopefully be able to get Jaguar involved in some way....
