Fair Lakes Cars & Coffee is Shut Down - Permanently

Due to on-going and escalating poor behavior at and around the Fair Lakes Cars & Coffee, the property manager has officially closed the parking lot to this event.

Yesterday she stated that anyone showing up next Sunday would be arrested, charged with trespassing, and she would have their car towed and impounded. The police officer at the event confirmed her intentions and noted that Fairfax County Police would be at the site next weekend.

This even is over folks, it was nice while it lasted.....

it is sad that the actions of a few ruin a nice event!

I bet it was the Dodge guys. A couple of weekends ago they were hooning out of the parking lot and Fair Lakes Parkway.

Unfortunately, every age group and pretty much every car make and model was well represented in the behavior that resulted in closing this event. Over the past two years, poor judgement was demonstrated repeatedly in both four wheel and two wheel vehicles. No single demographic is to blame - it is just sad the the actions of the minority have such a negative impact on the majority.

However, I don't ever recall seeing a Jaguar burning rubber leaving the meet!

So sad. There were some really nice cars there. I am happy for the one time I was able to attend. I enjoyed it and saw nothing improper at any time.

Fair Lakes, the Early Days

Here are some pics from Fair Lakes, from 11/7/2010, the first time I ever went. Back then, a dozen cars was a crowd!

At least we got one last, great Jaguar meet in, the last day it was running!

You can even see the cars of a few current Jaguar folks here - Bobert's Corvette GS, Listerjag's car, and my Elise. All of us were at APOJ this past Sunday, over 4 1/2 years later, with our Jaguars.

I am sure the Cars And Coffee is going to move over to another place. The question will be where. I am sure within a month they will have another place figured out.

In the mean time, anyone know of a good park that we could do APOJ6 at? I am sure we could have a good time with ourselves and do a BBQ or the like. Worst case, we do our own car show in the parking lot of Blue Iguana. I don't see any of us making a lot of noise and making them not want us to come back. Just a thought. May get a few more people in on the buffet.

Possible APOJ location

If the group would be interested in a little road trip, the Shenandoah British Car Club is having their fall show the first weekend of October in Waynesboro, VA. It is about 2 and a half hours from the DC area.

Check out the SVBCC.com site for info.

Whoops, it is SVBCC.net for the Shenandoah Valley British Car Club!

What a shame! It was a good event and a lot of fun to see all the Jaguar owners in one place.

On a side note I have been working on a cars & coffee in Woodstock Va. for the local cars and have high hopes to draw a few from outside the area but the problem is that it would be on Saturday not Sunday. Link Fair Lakes it would be open to all model cars. I have been pleasantly surprised with the amount of restored cars / trucks on this area and would love to see this work.

Please know this will take time to work out I have a lot on my plate at the moment.
