95 Octane gas in North Texas?

Hi all - coming up to the end of my first tank in my (new to me) X350 - I notice it calls for 95 RON however the best I can find in the Sherman TX area is 93. Going to the company websites doesn't seem to offer any assistance - before I go driving around all over the north Dallas area - is 95 even available? What is everyone doing about that, if not? Just go with 93 and some booster?

So far I have tried Exxon and Texaco and a couple of the grocery store adjuncts. There's a Chevron nearby that advertises "Supreme" - will check there next i guess.

Thanks!
adam

Gas in North America is rated by the AKI (anti-knock index) and not by RON (research octane number). The RON system was used here up to the mid-70s and is still in use in the rest of the world.

95 RON is equal to our 91 AKI, available almost everywhere.

Hi Ayavner,

I believe in North Am the max ratings for octane is 93ish. The x350 has been calibrated to use 91 octane according to my handbook.

OK that makes sense... i've just moved here from Australia where I used diesel mostly, and when I lived here before I didn't drive anything that required premium so never had to think about it.

cheers guys, another thing off my list of worries! :icon_toast:
