First Jaguar and new to forum.

I just bought a 1993 XJS Jaguar convertible six cylinder with 93,000 miles. I live in a small town between Tucson and Phoenix Arizona. I'm guessing that the previous owner had shown this car before because it has a sticker on the window "British car roundup 2009 Tucson, Arizona". I'm in the process of doing some maintenance, so I'm reading as much as I can to familarize myself with this car. From what I have read, these cars need new valve guides at about every 20,000 miles? I have three cylinders oiling my plugs. My thoughts are it would probably be best to take the head off and ship it out for a rebuilt one.

My opinion, being a Cadillac technician for over twenty years (retired) is that valve guides are probably what you are looking at. Don't know about the 20,000 mile Jag problem but, if the plugs are getting oiled and your in a position to have it done financially, head rebuild is in order.

Valve guides

The reason I said that it looks like the valve guides have to be done at about 20.000 miles is because after going through all the work orders on this car, I've notice that it has had them replaced several times already. Now, I just need to know who is a responsible place to send my six cylinder head to.
