Some of the members have been asking about Jag Techs and their locations by region.
If you are a Jag Tech please feel free to post your approx location details here for all to see. Obviously to protect your privacy and annonymity, basic info only.
That way members can see at a glance what Techs if any are in their area that may be able to assist them.
Further - If anyone has any dealership reccommendations / Independant Jaguar specialists in their area that they would like to put forward, please post up with the Details, location and contact details for other members to see.
The Idea is that this will benefit all members within that locale and help to identify the dealerships that offer the best service and value for money.

Thank you

This looked like as good of place as any to report an excellent experience I hadSaturday at Momentum Jaguar in SW Houston, because of Bill (known as BRUTAL on the forum). He took time out of his day and other work he had going to diagnose an ongoing issue with my '01 XJR. Having been in the car business for years, I've known a lot of techs, and Bill strikes me as an extremely knowledgeable tech. Beyond that, he's very personable, and will explain what is going on - something you rarely find in a good tech! Of course, most techs don't spend time on a forum helping others with their cars in their off time, either.

After just one trip to have Bill look at my car, I feel fully confident in dropping my car off at Momentum Jaguar and requesting Bill as my tech. I know I will be treated fairly, and will have the work done right. If you're in the Houston area, I highly recommendBill as your one-stop shop!

Brandon

I have given praise for my service advisor here in Ft Worth, but since this thread is specifically for good techs in the SW region, I will tell you that Autobahn Jaguar, and Lee Letts have been more than fair to me over the last 2 years. Alot of stuff is fixed under warranty, and he is great about communicating thru emails on how the repairs are going. Lee was a mechanic that got promoted to service advisor, and well deserved.

Well, surely the service tech doesn't actually crack bolts and get grease on his hands does he? Better pay? You got the inside, you saying it is different?

Good going Brutal. Ifigured you would be a stand up guy. If I have need for dealer service, I may take the trip down to Houston to see you. Millennium here in Dallas sucks. Thanks Brandon, for the good report. Its always nice to hear positive things about our members.

If you can fog a mirror, you can be an advisor. It takes a lot more to be a tech.

As an aside, there wasn't time to do everything that Saturday, so he's been sorting issues this week as well. Had a dead secondary fuel pump, an ECM issue, AND possibly a Mass Air problem to boot. Bill is really going the extra mile on this one! Suffice to say he's gone out of his way, and I'm super appreciative of his efforts.

I too can suggest Momentum SouthWest. I bought my car a couple of days before the hurricane from one of their affiliated dealerships. The affiliate replaced the front brakes and broke a wheel sensor in the process. Before I accepted the car, the sales manager agreed to set an appointment at Momentum to have it checked/repaired. I don't know who the tech was but the advisor's name is Jasper Mendoza. The repairs were complete in less than two hours and I was on my way. I will mention that the coffee machine in the customer lounge is almost as complicated as the cars they sell and work on.

Jackpot! I was looking for a recommendation and got one right off the bat.

I had my XKR shipped from N. Carolina directly to Momentum SW where Michelle my service contact took delivery and saw to it that the shop checked her out. The front end was aligned and a new set of front brake pad$ were installed and she was ready to go. I was very pleased with my first Momentum JVPL experience.

Default So Cal Jag Service

Most modern vehicles (including Bentley, Rolls, Maybach, Aston Martin) in my opinion have substantial styling flaws. The closest to my tastes was a 2004-2007 XJL. Double-black with the dark wood interior and leaper on the hood borders on spectacular. I searched online, and found an '06 at British Motor Cars in San Francisco. Over the phone we made a deal, and the dealer agreed to pick my girlfriend and I up at the airport, I'd test drive back to the dealership, and after signing the papers cruise the California coast back home. The BMC facility many years ago was a Packard dealership, and it is a beautiful building. The waiting area is very classy, and has a play room for kids. I didn't have service done there, but could see the staff was of the highest caliber. I recommend this facility. Upon driving my new car, we immediately went down Lombard Street, which is that twisty and scary steep road you see in the movies.

I lived about two miles from South Bay Jaguar on Pacific Coast Hwy. Their service facility looked top notch, it was a multi-story building where they could store your car indoors if you had a problem that would take many days to repair. About two weeks after I purchased my Jag, they closed.

When I was due for the yearly service, I went to Hornsburg Jag in Hollywood. It's kind of a run down area, and definitely not convenient to where I live. The waiting area is odd, as it is right in the middle of a busy passageway with offices that face it. After we determined the vehicle would not be ready in a day, at no charge they gave me a small Land Rover as a rental. That was nice. When I got the car back, all repair work was perfect, and they had washed it. I recommend this facility, but you'll either want to get dropped off or take one of their loaner vehicles, because there really is no waiting area.

There is or was an independent Jag repair shop nearby on Hawthorne Boulevard and PCH, Al's Jaguar Service. I was going to use him for minor things like oil changes, but it looks like he is closed.

About a week ago my engine failed to start. The closest authorized Jag repair facility is in Cerritos, about 18 miles away. It took about ten days to get the appointment, and then have them actually start work. That seemed too long. They said the engine wouldn't start, because the fuel injection system for some reason had washed the oil off the cylinder walls and there was no compression, and the fix was to inject oil into the intake manifold to recoat the cylinders. That all seems very odd, but I picked up the car today and it appears to be working ok. One thing they failed to repair, was a rear passenger door lock. I had explained to the service advisior exactly what the problem was, and when I went to get the car, the receipt showed the mechanic had not found any problem. The advisor and I went to the car, using the remote I locked the doors, and then pulled the rear door handle, and the door opened. Problem not fixed. And then I pointed out to the advisor, the inside door lock button, was stuck in the out position. We both just shook our heads, how could the mechanic have been so dumb to not be able to lock the doors and then find one wouldn't lock, and so blind to not see the lock button sticking out? So the advisor said they'll order the part, and have someone come out to get my car, and then after the repair return it to me. So it will eventually get done, but this is an unnecessary hassle. The reason it happened was because the service advisors don't call and let you know what is going on with your car, if they had called me and said they didn't find a problem with the lock, I could have given them exact steps to find the problem. I had to pay for some of the work, and found I had left my credit card at home. The manager let me take the car without paying, and I called upon getting home and gave them the credit card number. That was good of them, and almost balances out the failure to fix the door lock. The waiting area is nice with a play room for kids, and has a window so you can look to see your car being repaired. I do not recommend this facility due to the long time to get the work done, missed repair, and service advisors not keeping the customer informed.

@ JackJohn LoL regarding Momentum Houston's coffee machine. I, too, had difficulty with it. You gotta put those little discs in it and it took me a while to figure it out too. That's hilarious.
