Hello all,

Picked up my second Jag in less than two weeks! This one is an XJS that was for sale in Burbank.

159k miles, straight body, no bondo, new tires, coolant flush, and interior is good considering its age. Engine is clean, starts right up and does not leak any fluids. The car does take some time to accelerate though when it is cold, but once the trans warms up it does ok. Not sure if that is a torque converter issue, or the trans itself, but will have my mechanic look at it Monday.

I will most likely keep this one, and sell the XJ6 as I don't need 4 vehicles (have the F350 in the picture as well as a 93 Ford Bronco.). Anyway, had to show it off. More pics will follow, but I am too tired to take any now. Been a long day of driving.

Got the car back from my mechanic last week, here are some pics of it off the trailer.

Found out the transmission was not the issue of the slow starting, it was only running on six of the twelve cylinders. That issue was fixed, and then it smoked heavily from the driver's bank of the engine up until last Thursday when it stopped. I have put just under 50 miles on it since then, and it runs fine. Interior needs work, but the body is rust free, and the oil and coolant have both been changed recently. Car came with owners manual and receipts dating back as far as 11/2005. I am a happy camper. :) Not bad for a $2,100 car.

Man, I like the XJS. Almost bought a one-owner with 41K but felt the asking price was too high. Enjoy yours!

I love mine too. I have put over 700 miles on it now, and got as high as 19mpg on the highway. Pretty impressive from a 12 cylinder. It is having a electrical issue lately. It started running really rough, coughing and sputtering so bad it would hardly move. So I put it in storage until it could get looked at. Then this last week I had to take it off the trailer as my mechanic wanted to lower the trailer to make it easier to load/unload vehicles on it. The Jag ran fine. So much so, that I took it out yesterday to drive to church. Again it ran fine. So I drove it all day running errands, and had no issues. It is now in my driveway again. My mechanic thinks it is one of the ignition control modules, he wants me to bring it by and let him check it.

They are lovely! I had a convertible V12 in black. The earlier versions had a common issue with only six cylinders firing. I seem to recall it was a distributor rotor arm issue. After a while of 6 cylinders not firing the exhaust system would fill up with gasoline and eventually catch fire, usually losing the complete vehicle. Make sure the ignition system is regularly serviced and then enjoy :)
