best tyres for xk8 on 18" milans ??

Need to get two rear tyres for my car. Got a price for pirellis nearly fell over !
Anyone heard of avon tyres ? Seem reasonable enough.

Tires are like oil, everyone has their favorites and will argue they are making the superior choice. I have heard of avon, but have never run them. First you should figure out if you want a summer tire or an all season tire. I really liked the Continental DW (summer) tires that I ran, and I have heard of good things about the DWS (all season). Currently I have nitto 555s on the Jag and Falken 452s on the Shelby. Both are good tires but louder than the DW tires were.

^Agreed

I don't agree with changing tire compounds between front and rear. I know professionals do it to alter handling characteristics and fine tune a car, but the average driver can make bad choices that do more damage than good.

I recomend you stay with the same tire on all four, or change all 4 at the same time to a new brand.

Yeah it'll depend on what qualities matter most to you.

Handling, braking, quiet, smooth ride, longevity, wet traction, etc etc.

Some qualities are trade-offs. Tire Rack reviews are a place to start.
