Can you use F-Type wheels on an XF?
I have an 2012 XF Portfolio and bought some F-type propeller wheels. At quick glance I thought they were the same wheel sizes as they had the same tires P245/40ZR19's. However, I found out that the rear tires were actually P275/35/ZR19's.
Dumb ass me for not realizing that the wheels are actually different in their offset. Through my quick look, I only looked at the diameter and width thinking these would work. I've been looking up the specs on the wheels and haven't found what offset the wheels are. One one site it said 51mm offset for my original Caravela wheels and the offset on the the rear propeller wheels are 27mm but nothing was listed for the front wheels. Anyone know if this will work for my XF? |
For those who wanted to know.. I tried mounting the wheels today. The front ones for the F-Type are the proper size the rear ones protrude outwards too much.
19x 8.5 offset 49 fronts 19x9.5 offset 27 rears The Caravela's I have apparently are 19x8.5 with 49mm offset. Bummer.. Have to look for two front propellers |
For those who want to know.
The Caravela's are Front: 19x8.5 with 49mm offset Rear 19x8.5 with 51mm offset. |

The suspension is identical for current XK, XJ, XF and F Type. Wheels designed for one will fit the other.

Harry has proven that the very different offsets of the rear wheels mean that F-Type rear wheels will "fit" on an XF or XJ but they will stick out way too far. And the same in reverse, if you tried to fit OEM XF rear wheels to an F-Type they would sit miles inboard and quite possibly foul on suspension components. This is rear wheels only, yes the front wheels will be interchangeable across the range as they all use the same offset or very close (in the range of +45 to +49 IIRC). Speaking as a current F-Type and previous XFS and XFR owner. |

Yeah You can used it. The F-type is a gorgeous V-8 sports car, but it's not as impressive or practical as others. Search for Towing Near Me

A little late to the game.
Hey all,
I'm a little late to the conversation, but still would like to share my experience. I just recently bought the exact same set as "harryf" for an F-type in the same size configuration. Fondmetal 9RR Front 19 x 8.5 ET49 Rear 19 x 9.5 ET27 I was also worried about them rubbing on the fender in the rear, but at the price I couldn't not risk it. Plus they came fitted with brand new, never rolled, 245/40R19's Pirelli SottoZeros, all-round which is the same size I already had originally on my Caravela's 19 x 8.5 ET49 (all four). I had already brought the Caravelas's out 15mm (front) and 20mm (rear) with spacers, so a little math told me that if I removed the spacers in the rear I would still be further out, with ET27, than before, oh well, let's try it and see. The 245/40R19's in the rear don't really look the way I like my tyres to look because the sidewalls are stretched out to fit the 9.5 wheel, but what the heck. They were a bargain so I'll learn to live with it. Once summer comes around I'll be talking it to a tyre shop near by to see if they are willing to mount a couple different sized tyres on the rear so I can go staggered, but I need to try it out before I commit to a size. I'm thinking 275/35R19, maybe 265's. Here are some photos I took today after mounting them on the car. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...99afa0c99c.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...34e7a20c3f.jpg Rear ET27 no spacer https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...3af01baa8d.jpg Rear ET27 no spacer https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...ab5d465034.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...c6279d81f2.jpg Front ET49 with 15mm spacer |
