TPMS exchange

If I remove my TPMS from my existing 19" wheels and install them in my new 20" wheels, will I have to have them reprogramed , if so can I do it myself or can the tire shop do it or do's it have to go to a jaguar shop.??

Bernie:

I had new tires put on my car. There is NO need to reprogram the TPMS as your just moving the TPMS from one wheel to the other. I made sure that the tire/wheel installer put the TPMS sensors back in the same rotation they came off.

i.e. Left rear to left rear, right rear to right rear etc.

I did have the TPMS rebuilt at a cost of $18.00 for all 4 sensors ($4.50 each). They work great and there was no need to buy new ones or reprogram them.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for that info .what make and size of tires did you installed , I was thinking of going to 295/35 /20 rear , and 265/35/20 front OEM Senta Chrome Wheels What is your opinion. Thanks Bernie.

Bernie:

My car has 20" OEM Jaguar Selena wheels......as it was a limited edition Jaguar XKR Portfolio Edition convertible were Jagaur only imported 200 convertibles into the USA.

Since the car came with oversized Alcon brake calipers and rotors ($5000 extra) I cannot find any aftermarket wheels for the car.

When I had new tires put on the wheels last month I went with Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110's size 255/35R/20 and 285/30R/20's.

The 295 rear might be a little wide if you mounting on a 9.5" wide rim. The 295 will handle a rim up to 10.5" wide.

Keep in mind that a 20" wheel will create a "low profile tire".

The Jag will have no problems relearning the TPMS on their own... Jag did it right by letting the car sense the TPMS serial number and automatically registering it (unlike Lexus which requires you to visit the dealership to program them in...

Reviving an old thread related to somewhat on-topic...

Purchased a fellow member's 2016 F-Type S's complete wheel setup (wheels, tires, sensors) to use as my 2016 F-Type R's winter setup next season (sans the summer tires).

The jury seems to be out regarding whether my car will automatically recognize the fellow member's sensors despite being the same model year/frequency 433Mhz? Rumor has it there might be two types of sensors for the 2016 MY???? Just seems like a real PITA not to be able to reset them ourselves--especially since when I go to get my tires m/b it will be in another car due to the limited utility in the F-Type and I would have to make a second trip.
