The 02 X-type wont turn over!

Hey all you jaguar enthusiasts!

So this is the dilemma... the car will not turn over, nothing happens when i turn the key all the way. when i turn to accessory, the radio comes on, and everything works the way it should. i checked the fuses under the hood and under the steering column on the drivers side and no popped fuses. see, i accidentally touched a power wire with another unknown wire, both from the wire bundle that connects to the rear deck speaker/subs. i was rewiring for a new amp and subs and a small spark occurred and now the car wont even start! any suggestions?

bluejagster,
i had the exast same problem occur to my car. I was installing a converter to add subs and an amp and the next day my car would not start. They had to tow it away to a shop. It turns out it was just the starter fuse that was blown so they just replaced it. i would check the started fuse to see if it has blown, and if that is good recheck every single fuse in the car, because chances are that is what it is.

Mr. Jim Logan!

Thank you sir for the advice! Im not too sure where the starter fuse actually is, but i think ill buy one of those fuse tester with the light about 10 bucks, and im sure that auto zone will help me find the fuse or something. if not, ill just check all them again like you suggested, i will post results later tonight after the troubleshooting is finished, thanks again!

So i checked the relays (small box looking things in the fuse box under the hood on the drivers side), all of them, because i didnt know which one it was and all check good, i just put my fingers on them and had a buddy turn the key to run position and felt them move. i also did this to the solenoid, (the part that is connected straight from the red battery cable) turn the key and it did not move. so, for money and time sake, i checked ALL of the fuses one last time. previously i checked all 20-50 rated fuses. turns out it was a blue fuse under the steering column and it was rated at 15! i swapped it out and there it goes, turns right on!! thanks again for the guidance, i hope this can help someone else with this problem in the future. CHECK ALL FUSES BEFORE TAKING TO THE DEALERSHIP OR REPLACING STARTER/ RELAY/ BATTERY/ ETC!!! it may cost you a dollar haha
