Just found a cheap simple way to repair imt valves that leak air 0n xtype's.the repair according to jag was to remove the upper intake remove both valve and replace with the factory seal.well I found that u can leave the intake on by putting seal over the valve.it will stretch(lower)..but the best thing I didn't use the factory seals.i went to local parts guy and used the seal that come from a cartridge type oil filter that had an inside diameter of aprox 60.5 mm slightly off size will work cost me nothing and 10 mins of my time.

Welcome to the forum Mechanic,

I've moved your thread from Jaguar Forums Feedback & Suggestion Centre to X-Type forum. The Feedback & Suggestion Centre forum is for posts about the forum and NOT FOR TECHNICAL posts.

Hi Mechanic,
I am new to X-type and was wondering what the IMT valve is and do you have any picture of how you did it. Its sounds like a good quick fix.

Do a quick search on here about that. There are plenty of threads and pictures about them and how to change them out. Simple, cheap and easy to do.

Glad that worked for you. Not sure exactly what material that seal is made of. Might not last like the OEM green one. I personally would have used OEM as they are really cheap, but if that works for you that is all that matters. Good thing is, even if it doesn't work out long term, as you found out, they are easy to replace. There are tons of threads on here about the IMT valve seals that describe chnaging them just like you did.

My post was really geared toward the part.the procedure is similar to other post.ive realized u don't need the expensive factory seal.u can use cartridge style oil filter supplied o- rings that come with the filter.they are usually free.they must be approx 60mm.little more or less works
