Default 2002 Transmission Leak - Oil puddle

Hello,

My new to me 2002 X-Type (left hand drive) with an automatic gear box appears to be leaking.

I drove the X-Type for the first time around 70-75 MPH for an hour long trip. Came home, parked car and the next morning, I notice a oil spot about 6 inches in diameter. The oil was dark, runny and coated the inside of the driver's wheel and the splash shield.

Originally, I thought perhaps the CV boot flung grease everywhere but I don't think that's the case. Whatever it was, it appeared to come out and be blown around or forced out with pressure.

The car drives fine so no idea - is the transmission pan which is mounted vertically is no more wet than usual.

Any suggestions here? What's odd to me is the oil on the ground was much more darker than the transmission fluid since it was just changed when I got the car a month ago.

Thanks!

Hmm - possibly, I did drain and refill the transfer case and the color of the fluid looked more like that.

Not sure how it would have all ended up on the drivers side wheel and under the fender tho...
