2005 X Type security failed code...HELP
Hi all,
got a new 05 Jag X type and love it! Car rides and handles like a dream! Orginally went to purchase a 05 Monte Carlo ss and came across the Jag Dealer and WOW! More bang for the buck. Ok, so here is my problem. I got a new instrument cluster that has more fetures and when i installed it, a light flashed and on the display of the cluster it read, "Security Failed" And the vehicle will not start. I re-install the orginal cluster and all is fine. Is there a way to re-set it?? Or am i screwed here? Also, when i did that my windows all had the one push and they all go down and or up, now i have to hold the button for the window to go all the way down and up.... is there a cure for my baby?? Thanks ________ The hills forums |
RE: 2005 X Type security failed code...HELP
I had my cluster replaced on my '02 X-type and I have no problems except at night when the dashboard lights are on the odometer flashes every now and then. I told the dealership about it and they could not find a short anywhere. I think the dealership may have reset something in my car when they replaced the cluster b/c I haven't had any major problems.

I have a 2004 xtype and it failed the smog because some of the lights on the instrument cluster are out so I got another which came from a used one and replaced it and it wont start and says security failed... called the dealer and they said I have to buy a new one. Any ideas? Ive seen programming instructions but one problem is I dont have a FOB, just a key...

Someone have solution? |
It's part of the immo so car has gone into anti-theft. Dealer tool to get it out or maybe putting original cluster back might work.

the instrument cluster is part of the security system (transducer in key engine ecu and instrument cluster) you need to use the sdd software to install a new cluster. you will need two keys as the software erases all the data before it reprograms the cluster. the milage reading can be the new cluster or the difference between the old and new readings as the cluster holds a copy and the engine ecu another copy
