boot/trunk locking problems on x type
 

hi all has any one had problems with the boot/trunk not opening on the remote and switch actuator

Is it in valet mode?

it is an x type 2002 2099cc

Perhaps you could explain how the car can get into Valet mode ?

What is valet mode?

My trunk has trouble locking sometimes. I am forced to slam it down very hard so the lock catches i guess. It pisses me off when i slam it and then try to lock it and it beeps twice at me. This has nothing to do with my valet mode, just an old part i guess.

Just bought '02 x - only 18k miles and one little old lady driver since new. She's in great condition *the Jag that is) except for the intermittent boot lid. Having found this post I guess I've a small job to do in the coming weeks. Excellent technical answer with the xrefs to the relevant Jag TSBs. Many thanks.
