Brake search woes
 

Hello all, tried searching on here for past information about places to get brake parts. I know alot of people get the ebc stuff but i couldn't find the link to the site that we have that code for a discount like scooby or something like that. Any help appreciated yall!

I wish I had seen these before I bought OE replacements from Carquest last fall. I paid as much for plain ones too! :(
I have to wonder though, how do drilled and slotted rotors hold up to road salt and rust? I've thought about putting them on my truck, but that's what keeps me from it.

I'm wondering that one as well (salt and rust) they say that they are zinc plated for rust and what not. Well see. I'm trying to figure out where everybody talked about getting the ebc green pads yellow pads and red pads. Can't remember how cheap they were and doesn't seem like anybody cares to respond!

i really want drilled/slotted rotors on my X, as they would look hot with the 5 spokes i have, but i had them on my z. It snows alot up here in ny, and they rusted VERY VERY fast and i had t oreplace the rears after aobut 8 months because i got a big crack from the drills. Get plain slotted if you really want a daily driver upgrade, you dont need the holes.

Well, I have summer and winter rims, I suppose I could have summer and winter brakes too.....NOT!

Hey Aquill............check out EBC and go for the drilled / slotted rotors and RED stuff pads............Jag are fitting Green stuff as std now.........red is better (ceramic)style and less dust too.
Type in scooby58 if I remember rightly for 15% discount

Awesome, I'm glad I could help! I'd be interested to hear which rotors/pads work offer the best performance. I think that may be the first thing I upgrade on my car. I think the rotors need to be resurfaced, so I may as well explore the idea of getting some quality ones instead.

Get regular brembo rotors! Don't buy into that cross-drilled slotted bull shit as the only companies who make them effectively are Porsche, Brembo, Stillen, and Willwood! And those cost an arm and a leg!

Ok, so I think I'm gonna buy rotors and pads for all around my '02. Is there anything special abolut a break install on a Jag I should know about? I've it about a billion times on my GM cars/trucks and a bunch of times on my Lexus, but is there anything specific about the Jag I should know? Thanks.

BTW, I'm also gonna buy Tires and wheels for the car now. (gotta love the tax return...) I'm thinking of just 17's, any suggestions about where to go for those? Thanks again....

For tires and rims, go local as you always want to see the rims before you buy them! As for the brake change, it appears that the rear caliper twists in COUNTER clockwise?!@ I'll confirm that tomorrow after I do my rear brakes tonight! I did the fronts, and put ceramic pads and now they're quiet like a sleeping drunk!

Slotted / grooved rotors from EBC are anything but shit Biggie....especially when married up with the Redstuff pads....Thats why Jag as an OEM are now offering EBC greenstuff pads as replacements! Although as previously stated, redstuff outperform for heavy prolonged braking, street racing etc.
All a matter of opinoin though bro

Guys, I fell asleep with my wife yesterday and didn't do my brakes. I still don't know if twisting the caliper in counter clockwise really works. As for the EBC rotors, I'll agree with you Jimbo, but they don't have the popularity that many others have and for the price tag they bring, most people will prefer the Brembos. I don't have any experience with EBC, but I'd like to try since you vouch for them as much as you do Jimbo! Next brake job, hopefully in like 2 years, I'll go all EBC and share my experience. So far, the stock rotors and Bendix ceramic pads have worked wonders for me!

Somekid- 1) Do your wheels squeal with the cheap pads or not? 2) For the avatar, you'll have to convert the pic into an avatar sized pic with photobucket.com or something similar, then save that pic somewhere on your hardrive. Then, go to My Profile at the top of the page and where you see avatar, click the part that says Upload my avatar, click browse, find your pic, and click OK. It should work!
