Can anyone recommend an auto electrician Herts, Beds, Bucks area?
I have a fault with the CAN network and none of the auto electricians I've tried will even look at the problem and those who will are not VAT registered so the warranty company won't authorise them - I've tried Jaguar but they want £150 just for the diagnostics and can't even look at it until the end of June
Basically the car came up with a "gearbox fault" message on the dash and the engine check light light came on - my code reader came up with P1368 which is something to do with the ECM system and I had a gearbox specialist do a diagnostic and he came up with 3 or 4 CAN Network errors and said there is nothing mechanically wrong with the gearbox- the car drives fine - I cleared the P1638 myself and just the engine check light came on again a few days later so I cleared it again - from reading posts here the problem is probably water damage/corrosion somewhere or maybe even a fuse but I can't find anyone who will even look at it
Also got another couple of faults that may be related - doors lock by themselves and I need to use the fob from the inside to open them and also there is a creaking/ rattling noise coming from the underside which a friend reckons could be the shocks - I see on a wiring diagram that the air shocks are connected to the CAN system

I only paid £1500 for the car plus paid for a warranty so need to get the work done for less than £500 for the warranty company to pay and a new ECM will cost around £1000 without labour - any more than that and the only other option is to keep clearing the codes and run it until it dies altogether and buy another Jag
Hoping someone can help

P1638 is Can Network Malfunction, Instrument cluster. Nothing to do with gearbox which would be P1637. Have you done a Hard reset. Disconnect the battery and put the leads together for a few minutes to discharge all on board capacitors. Reconnect and it will reset all modules. Need Radio code and to reset autoclose windows.

Thanks for the suggestions guys - sorry I didn't reply sooner - didn't get any email alerts
I'll try the disconnect battery first - If that doesn't work I'll do some research to locate the ECM and have a look (got arthritis in my hands so if it's too fiddly I'll call a mobile mechanic to have a look)
@ JagXSE - thanks for the Powerbell link - if the other two things fail I'll give them a call - Maidenhead is only around 25 miles away
