Can u install a bumper cover w/out the tow hook square if your old bumper has it

07 xtype 3.0 Trying to get off as cheap as I can as I ordered a 400$ bumper from someone on this site and was never sent to me. So I am trying to get a bumper thats cheap vs spending another 500$ + So I found a bumper cover all primed ready to paint that does NOT have the tow square. But my car has the tow package. Can I install one without the tow square?

Was there a factory tow package available for the X-Type?

The few X-Type's that I've seen with a hitch had aftermarket hitch units like the Curt 11339 installed under the rear valance.

The Witter Tow Bar (from England) is a very good bar for X-Types and requires a cut-out on the lower bumper cover. I think for later versions of X-Type, such as my 2007 one, it doesn't require a full bumper cover removal, but only the valance, to cut it. If you have a tow bar already installed you might need to do the cutout. If not, don't worry about it. In any case the cut is a pretty easy one and can be done with a Dremel. Just get the position right.

Vegaskid,

Posting a few pics of your existing "tow hook" might help us to better understand what you're looking for.

I think he's talking front bumper and the little "door" to take out to screw in the tow hook (in trunk/boot)?

Ha Ha, you are probably right, Dell. Now I feel a little silly, but the description wasn't too clear in the original post.
