Default Changing stock Stereo in X-type Estate

Hi regular reader but first time poster so bare with me please.

I have an 04 x type estate SE and have removed the factory stereo to put a Sony double din Bluetooth CD radio mp3 player unit. I bought the adaptor kit online but the aerial cable received is no use. The cable from the car is like a figure of 8 cable for old tape players but I have seen nothing like it, local Jaguar no help and Halfords did their best but twice wrong cable now.

All kits online say 2001 onwards X-type but is the estate different or was there a change in 2004 on saloon and estate?

Am I first estate owner to put non factory stereo in? Surely not.

Any and all advice appreciated

The only question I can answer for you is YES to the electrical changes in the 2004 model year. The electrical received a complete reconfiguration around March 2004. As to whether they used a different cable for antenna than previous years I don't know, but as significant as the update was it wouldn't surprise me.

You may need to find an audio technician, who no doubt will have come across this scenario many times.
Quite a lot of videos on YouTube regards X type audio/infotainment upgrades.
