Clutch pedal dropped
So tonight on way home in traffic, clutch pedal dropped to the floor and wouldn’t come up. Pulled up by hand and now It makes no difference to getting any gear. The pedal stick the floor with no bounce back at all but will come up when pulled but no clutch engagement at all.
i opened the bonnet and saw the brake booster vacuum line valve was snapped off as per the photo . Would the valve breaking and sucking in air cause the clutch pedal to drop and get air in the system ?? Just seems a coincidence to not be related ?? If so if I fix the valve, how to I get the air out ?? Any help appreciated https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...762e74c58.jpeg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...af035c621.jpeg karl |
The brake fluid reservoir is shared by both the clutch hydraulic system and the brake hydraulic system. So yes, air in the system is going to affect not only braking ability (not as bad as clutch because maybe air not in brake lines yet) but clutch function.
notice the difference in your booster valve from an automatic = https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...53eada5428.jpg https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/a...m-bleeding.pdf Read this caution = https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...fixing-167880/ |
Thanks for the reply, I guess my main question is , can air getting in from this pipe, actually get in the clutch system ??

Yes, as I said notice the difference in your valve from an automatic. See the additional pipe going down to clutch/slave?

Bad news - I turned engine off , put in gear and turn it over and nothing, no jolt or trying to jump forwards.
checked selector cable and it’s deffo moving so regardless even in any gear when engine off , when I start it’s like it’s in neutral. So looks like possibly DMF and clutch and slave gone ?? |
I think this might be the newer replacement part = C2S4569

Maybe a possibility that the friction disc is just stuck on the splines. Try tapping the outside of the bell housing a few times with a hammer while in neutral.
