is there a code reader that is left in while you drive and provides exactly what if happening rather than only proves codes?

harry, based on what you are describing, you most likely have either bad upper intake gaskets or bad lower intake gaskets. that is what I would go after next.
If you want to prove a problem before spending money, invest in a good cigar. You can then get the motor cold and turn off the A/C-Defrost (ie, you want the engine fans not to run). You then start up the car once the cigar is well lit and then you gently blow the smoke into the engine bay. You can then watch the smoke as it slowly rolls through. When you see the smoke make a sudden direction change, that is pointing you to your vacuum leak. Then it is a matter of seeing what gasket is in the area and figuring out what needs to be replaced.
