Coolant leak as soon as I fill
 
Okay so I replaced a radiator in my 03 x type jag and now when I go to refill water I get a leak on bottom of car, right dead center, from back of motor. Should there be a bleeder line down there or any line that would instantly drain my reservoir as soon as I fill it up?

You sure it isn't the reservoir itself? Not uncommon to crack as they age.

There is a pipe off the side of the water pump that connects to a hose at the back of the engine. You can try from underneath but I think to get a a good view of it you have to pull the right hand side wheel arch liner out.

OK so I figured out that it's not the reservoir. I made a line going from the tee to the water pump to try that and found my mystery leak. It's not the water pump or anything attached to the drive belt.it's deeper in.. On the back of the motor there is water pouring out and I cant seem to see where from. Does anyone know where I could be leaking from? Sorry for the little description as to it was raining and didn't have much time today.

Might be going to your heater core. Either way it's all speculation. You have to try to get a view of the leak, likely (hopefully) a hose.

Today I moved the battery out of my way and found my water leak. There are two silver tabs that go in the driver side of the block and one was half way in and half way out. My only problem is that I don't know what they are. It's the 2 silver round aluminum plates or tabs with a "S" inscribed on them both. I have included a picture for anyone who could give me feed back on what they are and if just putting it back in place would fix it. Thanks in advance for the help.

In the pictures they appear to be freeze plugs. They are designed to pop out if water in the block freezes. It is doubtful if it would reseal be being tapped back in. I would look at getting a new one, completely remove that one and clean the opening before putting in a new one. I am not positive but I think the part number you are looking for is XR85198. I don't have an Electronic parts catalog for the x-type.

It looks like a core plug; that is where the block has holes in it so that they can machine the inside. The plug then covers the hole up; I haven't heard of them being called freeze plugs before.
It is odd that it should have come half out.
As avern1 said clean the hole properly before refitting, they simply tap in. Use a round driver of some sort that just fits in the plug and tap it home straight until it is flush.
I used a high temperature, waterproof sealer when I did mine.
It's not difficult provided that you have reasonable access.

You guys nailed it. Core or freeze plug that the local parts stores do not carry for the x-type. Thanks for including the part number avern1. O'Reilly said they could match it up but I feel better about ordering from jag direct. I have finished my radiator instal which was easier then I thought so now once I get this core plug back in it I should be good to go (hopefully). I'll update by the end of the week. Thanks again.

Do you have any indication of why the core plug came half out? I've never heard of that happening before.

You are just looking for a metric core (freeze) plug. The auto store should be able to measure it and give you one the same size.

Freeze plug kinda says it all. I've seen plugs pushed partially out, and all the way out and even half still stuck with the plug bent outward at a 90° angle. Water or too low antifreeze mixture, car sits, freezes and voila!

Yea I'm guessing the same. I bought this car off of a guy that let it sit with water in the block over winter. I'm hoping there isn't a Crack in the block. Also, I don't know if there are more then 2 freeze plugs on my 3.0L...? I havnt gotten a new plug yet so I tried tapping the old one back in and it seemed to fit snug. I filled the system up with anti freeze for now being that I live in ohio and it's 35 degrees out. I'm going to check the reservoir when I get home to insure it held up and that there are no further leaks. If no leaks, then I'm hoping to test start once I get new plug in.

It is a difficult area to see but I believe there is one more on the front of the engine just above the crankshaft dampener. You may have to remove the wheel arch liner. to get a look at it.
The liner is fairly easy to remove once the tire is out of the way.

Idk if this is truely accurate, found this information posted on a ford site for 3.9 V6 duratec engine =

1 in each ends of the heads = 4 at 1 1/4" ,
2 at the end between the block and Transmision = 2 at 1 1/2",
3 in the sides of the block 2 on one side and 1 on the other by the motor mounts = 3 at 1 1/2"
For a total of 9

I think you are correct Dell. I just realized thinking about it the one on the front of the block would be inside the timing chain cover. DUH, my bad.

Update: today I put a new battery in my jag, filled the system up with anti freeze, and attempted to start up. I got nothing but cranking. It was good cranking, nice and fast but didn't want to start. I have the minimal drip from very rear of motor of antifreeze. Minimal meaning small drip every 5 seconds. Doesn't seem to be the issue on the no start I hope. I'm a little concerned at this point. Thank you for the locations of the freeze plugs as I will inspect to ensure no more have popped on me. I know it's a long shot but any ideas?

My first guess is that you knocked a wire or something loose. Inspect everything first. Then check to see if there is spark and fuel. Also check engine codes.
