Dual Mass Fly Wheel or Release Bearing..?
Hi,
I have a 2003 X-Type 2.0D Manual. A few months ago my clutch started squeaking when I would press it. It would come and go. A few weeks later, the squeak became much quieter when it did come. A few weeks later the clutch started making weird clunking, grinding noises when I press it. When I am idle, its fine, when I slightly press the clutch I can hear it slightly and the more I can push the more I can hear and feel it. it doesn't happen all the time. Also the noise and vibration is not always the same strength etc. Some squeak in there aswell. Also when I put into gear and slightly raise the clutch and can feel and hear the grinding / clunking noises, the noises are coming from the front and I can also feel it under my foot. Although gear changes are usually pretty normal.
Some say it may be the Release Bearing and others say is may be the Dual Mass Fly Wheel. I don't want to really take it somewhere for them to take the whole gearbox out before I know what it could be and rough costs.
Any ideas...?
