sth, from what you are describing, it is sounding like a problem with your throttlebody. The loss of power that you are feeling is a safety feature built into the car when it senses that the engine is potentially in a damaging condition (ie, running really lean or in an overheating condition). The "Check Engine Light" (the light you are seeing) is just another indication that you are experiencing issues. The best advice that I can tell you is to take the car to a local shop/auto parts place and see if they can read the codes for you (the port to obtain the codes is under the dash near the steering column). Once you get those codes (should be something along the lines of PXXXX where XXXX is a series of numbers). Give us all the codes and that will help us get you a correct diagnosis and get the car back to 100%
